Engine transplant

Hi,

With a bit of luck I won't get bollocked again for posting in the wrong place! Anyway, I have got a W reg phase 1 Clio sport which I love!!! It the raw old school look of the car that does it for me. After restoring and on a expensive quest to make it a minter I feel like I need more power after owning a impreza STI 360bhp and a BMW E46 M3 342bhp previous the 172 although good fun lacks what I want! Now I am aware alot of you will prob say if u want a faster car buy one! But I want this car, but faster!
So, what engine transplant could I put in the clio? I don't want to turbo charge or supercharge the existing as its on 95k and that would be pointless! I have already uprated brembo disks and pads and sat on Kotex coilovers!

Any help, advice, guidance would be much appreciated! And if anyone wants to be involved in a crazy project let me no!

And what kind of power/drive gain can I get from that? I was maybe thinking a 3.0 v6 conversion in the phase one??? But seems alot of work that! Cheers jay

V6 would be s**t mate. Too heavy and very under powered.

Skys the limit with boosted engines, only budget is limiting factor

With a decent Vag 1.8T engine. You could easily be looking at 280Bhp with just a few mods. Say it's 225Bhp standard, remap, high flow down pipe, sports cat and cat back and you'll be done. I used to own an Audi TT so I was around a lot of tuned 1.8s.

I have NO idea if it would fit or work though

I know where you're coming from and I hope your project goes well. I have a 172 phase 1 and a Subaru. If I drive the Clio like a hooligan then it goes ok (but only ok). Driving the Subaru though is a dream, it's the lack of power of the Clio that's letting it down. I haven't had the Clio remapped, everything else that's reasonable to do to it has been done, so I hope the final thing - the remap - helps otherwise I think it will have to go!
