Thanks for the reply.
I wasn't going for star trails, just a good picture of the stars that can't be seen with the eye. I'd like to get a milky way photograph but I assume the conditions need to be perfect for this.
Hi all,
Looking for a bit of advice.
I tried the camera out last night as it was a clear sky.
Is the main problem with my test photos below the light pollution?
Also, if this is or isn't the case, what else could I do to improve?
I used a low aperture, high ISO (800-3200) and a 30 second...
Thanks mate. I ended up going with the Nikon D3300 and the Sigma 10-20mm lens. Also got the Manfrotto tripod which made taking the pictures so much easier.
Just thought I'd do a small update. I got back from Iceland a few weeks ago and it was incredible!
I'd love to go back again in the summer or when it's clearer. We had 100% cloud cover for the whole time we was there so the sky was a fairly dull aspect of the photos.
Anyway, below are a handful...
Thanks for the reply. Well it's mainly for scenery/northern lights. I think I'm just going to have to fork out for this maybe. I assume this will fit the D3300? Sorry for all the questions but I'm really out of my depth with this at the minute.
Would the 18mm of the standard 18-55 lens with the D3300 be considered wide angle? If so couldn't this be used with a wide angle adaptor to get that extra angle?
Thanks for all the advise everyone. Them videos were also really useful. I'm going to watch a few more of his videos.
I was looking at the Sigma 10-20mm lens on eBay. Is it really £300? That's more than the camera.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply, would a Sigma 10-20 fit the D3300?
I'm not set on the Nikon, I'm happy to go with any other recommendations people throw out.
Thanks,
STRBramley
Hi Everyone,
I'm off to Iceland in December and I'm about to buy a Nikon D3300 to take with me as I suspect I'll get some absolutely amazing photo opportunities while I'm there.
I know very little about cameras but I'd also like to get your opinions on what additional lenses I should take with...
Hi All,
I'm looking at getting a Clio after owning a 350z for a few years but I've not had one for a while so I've forgot most of what to look for.
I quite like that it looks plain compared to a lot of 197's.
I spotted this one but not sure what to check for. Is there anything obvious about this...
Hi All,
My brother is wanting a new gaming PC for Christmas.
His current computer is just capable of playing Minecraft and watching Youtube but I think he'd like to play some more graphically intensive games.
What could he get for a budget of ~£500?
All he would need is the tower as he already...
Hi,
I'm looking at putting a projector in my loft but due to the shape I have a limit of how high the screen can be mounted.
I want to get this screen but I was wondering if it's possible to not have it pulled all the way down? Obviously I want to be able to see all the white of the screen but...
Can anyone recommend a good motherboard? I want to start buying some parts for a new PC build as mines 5 years out of date. I'm completely out of touch with PC gaming so if someone can recommend a good mobo as a starting point I'll go from there.
I installed it last night and everything seems to work fine other than the one thing I'm currently using my laptop for, Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines. The game doesn't launch and gives a Directx 5 error. Never got the issue on Windows 7 or 8.1. Tried older drivers, compatibility mode and...
I've given up and bought Forza 5 today for £12.
I'm sure the game would be brilliant with a wheel but with a controller I find it impossible to get on with.
It's a shame as it seems to do everything else so well.
Cheers for this, I'll give it a go tonight.
I had another play last night and so far I just can't get into it. I really want to enjoy it but the controls are killing it for me.
Finally got this game last night :)
After the 1gb update I went for a practice run around the Nurburgring in a Radical but the controls were terrible.
I think I spent just over an hour getting them right. Is there any way to change the controls in game without going back to the options menu...
