I'm in a similar situation mate, car is due belts and I'll have a couple of grand to throw at it, I've narrowed it down to 2 options:
Option 1: Get the belts done and drop in a set of 197 cams £900, BC coilovers £900, polybush and set up £200.
Option 2: Sell mine for around £2k, and put the...
Read the AR1s wear quite quickly due to being a 80 tread wear, whereas the likes of the Toyo R888R wear much better but have a 100 rated tread wear so outright grip maybe slightly less. Best tyre out there is the Kumho V70a but you'll pay for it!
Just get one from one of the supermarkets if you need it quickly cause if it breaks within the warranty period, they just swap it there and then, or even better sign up with Very and get one from there as they have great deals on, we got a Panasonic 42" 4K smart TV for £279 with the new member...
Black for me all round, got a set of wishbones with black series bushes fitted, just need to get inner/outer ARB, rear beam and steering rack bushes. Got a purple dog bone fitted as well. Only going to do this once I get coilovers though for maximum effect.
I'd say so mate, use the money for a set of cheap 15" wheels with track rubber (r888, ad08 etc...) and decent front pads, I'm currently using Mintex M1155 and find the stopping power and lack of fade great for the money, £69 on EBay.
I just got new Renault OE dampers from ebay and a set of ECP AMAX (APEX) lowering springs, cost me under £200. Been running that for 9 track days now and it's great TBF. Kept pace with plenty of other higher specd Clio's.
If you've never done a track day in the Clio then as long as the suspension components are fairly fresh just go and see how it behaves on track, you may feel your skill level doesn't require coilovers yet, I know I didn't need them on my first few times out. I'm 9 track days in with the Clio and...
OP have you reviewed both SPAX RSX and Gaz GHA on here? They don't get great reviews, the latter getting pretty crap reviews TBH. I know the BCs aren't full coilovers but there's not a bad word said about them on here. Again why full coilover?
Oh the Mondeo, always on the list of 'boring' cars even though its always up there in best in class. I've owned many a boring car and the Mondeo has never felt boring to me and I've owned a fair few of them now, from a 1.8 to the 3.0.
Oh don't say that, we're in the hunt for a 2.2 CDTI FN but could easily persuade the missus to dig into her vault to get the FN2 instead :tongueclosed:
I do like the FN2 but just don't know if I could live with that ride as a daily, the 1.8 was bad enough for me. Suppose a set of Bilsteins would sort that right out though.
Happy hunting.
No chance the ds1.11 should last that long, they are one of the more long lasting pads. Are your callipers free? Can you spin the fronts without resistance when up in the air?
Ran ECP's Pagid DOT 4 in mine last time out at Aintree and Oulton without issue, in fact the pedal felt firmer than with ATE200, and at £15 for 5 litres v £14 for 1 litre of ATE200...
