Clio cup roll at Oulton yesterday

Another great weekend for R-sport, be making a fortune on new shells! Russ

New project. Megane engined RS200 road car.

Yeah that standard insulation on the bulkhead is a recipe for disaster, first thing I did was get rid of it. I don't think cooling or over heating is an issue if it's done properly, I personally wouldn't run the Clio rad but people do, I think it's just a bit marginal with the Megane engine...

New project. Megane engined RS200 road car.

Picked the car up today, great job by Chris @ Efi Parts. Had a run around the block, bit shocked at just how quick it actually is as a full weight road car, would love to build a lightweight race car with the same engine! Cars home now and filthy as the weather has been awful. And...

New project. Megane engined RS200 road car.

It's mapped, just had an email from Chris. Making what it should 301bhp and held the torque back to just under 300lb ft for as long as possible. Looking forward to getting it back at the weekend. Russ

New project. Megane engined RS200 road car.

I have a plan now and there is a way to run it on my car so just need to start collecting some shiny bits. Russ

New project. Megane engined RS200 road car.

Your name popped up today as I was picking Chris's brain about all things vvt on a 197 engine and dta Ecu Russ

New project. Megane engined RS200 road car.

Apologies for the lack of updates. It is all back together in one piece and running. Doesn't run the best, I suspect there's a stock map on the Ecu even though it should have been mapped for a near identical spec to what I have. Everything looks ok on diag, map sensors reading, temp sensors...

    R26 engine into a 200

Yeah go for it mate. Tried to put as much info on my thread as I can. Need update it though. Russ

    R26 engine into a 200

It is fairly simple but there is a big difference between just doing the conversion and doing it properly. Wiring isn't too bad there is info out there. My advice would be buy a complete donor car as buying all the little missing pieces can cost you a fortune. Russ

Pretty much, still need to bleed the clutch and give it a once over on the ramp. Russ

New project. Megane engined RS200 road car.

Major news alert! Fitted the R26 gearknob! Once the big job was out of the way I started on the exhaust. Hardest part was probably getting the old one off the car. Obviously needed cut between mid pipe and back box as it's once piece from the factory. Didn't realise the cat was part of the...

New project. Megane engined RS200 road car.

If you've seen my other thread you'll probably know I've been out of action since new year with a broken leg. Means I haven't done a great deal and it should of been finished ages ago. Managed to finish the cooling system off this week and have roped my mate in to give me a hand next week to...

My new racecar project (Icemans old shell)

Not quite to that extent! One rod from knee to ankle and 6 screws I think. Doubt mine is titanium either, probably raw mild steel knowing Carlisle hospital! Russ

My new racecar project (Icemans old shell)

Nothing exciting, literally fell over! Managed to break it that badly that I don't actually need a cast on it because there's that much metal in it! Re. The wheels I've cut down from 4 sets to 3 this year. Russ

My new racecar project (Icemans old shell)

Not much going on, broke my leg between xmas and new year and have been out of action since. I'm going to miss the start of the season whichever way I look at it so not sure what to do now. Can't do anything at the minute though! Took a pic of my freshly powder coated wheels whilst I was...

    PMS adjustable wishbones

Not much in the way of adjustment on them ones tbh, only going to gain a little bit more caster. I run the non adjustable version. Russ

    PMS adjustable wishbones

Looked at these before, need Laguna/cup racer hubs though don't they? Biggest thing for me is technically they move the suspension pick up points to a different part of the subframe so on dodgy ground for most race series. Russ

FAO Those With Existing Safety Devices Roll Cage, Msa Eligibilty

Spot on. Worth mentioning if dates are in question that the blue book hasn't changed regarding those regs since at least 2013 when I looked back. Russ

FAO Those With Existing Safety Devices Roll Cage, Msa Eligibilty

If you don't mind, please keep all paper work and correspondence and keep us updated as it's something I'd definitely like to see taken further. Russ

FAO Those With Existing Safety Devices Roll Cage, Msa Eligibilty

Thing that worries me is most scrutineers won't bat an eyelid especially on a well prepared car but if word gets around that the specific cage is outlawed is going to become s real pain in the @rse for a lot of competitors. Russ
  23. Russ Rallye

FAO Those With Existing Safety Devices Roll Cage, Msa Eligibilty

Surely Safety Devices have slipped up here, if they're saying it isn't now fit for purpose regarding Msa regs then it never has been fit for purpose and can easily be proved with previous blue books and dates of sake of the cage? Surely trading standards could help out here? I have a vested...

    Adam's budget racing thread

Can't believe you still have 172 for sale mate, well priced for a nice turn key race car especially when you see some of the crap out there. Russ

Best person to supply me with a refurbed 'box with Gripper fitted?

I've got a brand new built box I 'might' part with not even been fitted since built. 172 cup jc5 with new gripper LSD, gripper low ratio final drive cw/p, shorter megane 5th gear. Had any remedial work carried out while stripped, synchros, selector forks, bearings and seals + new 5th gear cover...

    R26 Clio 200

Cheers mate, seen the guy advertise on eBay, never seen the ball joints though, might drop him a message. Got both sets of drop links off eBay, can't remember the seller, got a feeling one was from France. Russ

    R26 Clio 200

Where did you get the replacement lower arm ball joints from, wasn't aware they were available separate. I've got a spare set of arms I'm going to rebush but the ball joints are goosed so could do with some replacements. Russ
