Re: track wheels. Doesn't get much better than the OZ F1's for price. £150 will see you a rough-ish set without tyres.. £300-ish for a decent set with decent track tyres.

I ended up backwards into a wall on these. Nothing to do with the tyre though, i'm just an idiot. They get a thumbs up from me, and as said, cheap as chips!

IMO, start looking around for other specialists. There's a few Oop North on here who are able to do the job well. Birchdown, Fred, Hutchy to name a few. Worth the drive to get it done properly, and you'll probably save £200 off that price! I personally wouldn't let Renault touch the belts...

To wind the caliper piston in, just use a flathead screwdriver. Make sure the handbrake is off, obviously. Oh, and as above. Might be worth buying discs with the bearings already pressed in. Renault sell 'em for approx £100 for the pair.

The profile will change if you go from 50 to 45, lol. Not a huge amount, but it will. if you're not worried about the gap, crack on.. Which size is cheaper?

When you think the difference is 10mm, you won't notice any difference. You may find you get slightly more grip, and less flex from the sidewalls because of the lower profile. Also, you're likely to have a bigger looking archgap (unless the car's lowered).

It can't be too tricky or expensive to get a set of washers made up.. Find someone who has some. Take some dimensions. Easy.

There's people on here that have had some made. Sell them for £8 or £10 a pair, I believe..

Gives the car a better insurance group. Same goes for the 106 GTi. They apparently do 0-60 in approx 8.5 seconds, but won't be too far behind a 172 either in real terms..

K-tec will sell them all. As for opinions on which is best, it's like asking what's someone's favourite drink. Everyone's opinions differ.

Look towards DS2500's or Mintex 1144's for fast road/light track use. Standard spec pads will do if you're on a budget..
