I've just had my belts changed and kits and now there is a whine coming from engine when driving. It seems to get louder when more revs are on. Any ideas?
This is probably due to the sound deadening being removed. Apparently it's an arsehole to get back on properly and could easily get caught up in the belts. Thus you have more noise once the belts have been done.
I'm hoping this is the case with mine anyway. Gonna get it booked in with fred in the near future though so will find out for sure
I thought it was knackered belt related because mines on 88k and has never had the aux belt changed (dont worry I'm getting it done asap) but if you have it too...
pas pump maybe. take it back to the garage and see what they say. Mine was done at queens service station and not had a problem with it. Doesnt sound too good though.
Its now got a tapping/rattling noise, have got another video, waiting for upload. Just seems to much of a coincidence that this happens after my belts were done.
Thats the noise my car made albeit not that loud and I got dephaser and belt kits changed and sound has gone!
Think you would be best taking it to a specialist to look over!
a specialist would've advised it, but not part of the kit, if it is the dephaser then guess what? same job you've just had done ALL OVER AGAIN, sorry dude
when replacing a cambelt if the tension has been done up to tight you will get a loud whining noise.. almost like a supercharger like someone else has posted.. it could either be this or the pas belt.. try slacken it off a little and see whther the noise goes.. if it does your looking in the cambelt direction buddy
The cambelt is manually tensioned and accessories belt is automatic. Somethings not right here as a belt change should not bring about a whine like your describing unless generally it's been over tightened?.. I'd personally be going back to where I got it from and asking them to re check it. Also I've never once had to leave the sound deadening out after changing a cambelt on an RS Clio!? I've known water pumps to show themselves up a little more with new accessories belt kits on as they are obviously a bit tighter on the bearing and the noise will alter with engine rev..
