I would like to get one of the USB diagnostic cables that allows you to connect a laptop to the diagnostics port and read and clear codes and other things, however I am very confused as to what to get. My car is an 02 Phase2 172. I have searched and found some people saying ODB2, then others...
You have a point. If your sole aim for getting a remap and an exhaust is to just have a larger BHP figure on your RR printout, then you have kind of missed the point of the exhaust and remap. Its more about the drivability of the car. If it drives better and you enjoy it more, then that's all...
Shock as company selling and fitting equipment providers buyer with massive gain RR result.
Its no surprise really, but it does explain where all the "Has an exhaust and remap, and now makes 210bhp!" eBay listings come from.
An exhaust being brand new has no bearing on an emissions test. Excessive play in suspension will be bushes. If it was a damper, they would have said damper. And the brake load valve is a mechanical part, and mechanical parts can brake. I think your trying to make this something its not.
There is nothing there that would make me think the MOT guy is taking the piss, however there is plenty there to get me worried if that was my car. Seems the brakes are shagged and the suspension is worn with a spring about to snap on you.
There are also a number of things you can see visually...
I think it depends on what stock he has, which looking recently, may be low as a lot of people are not returning their wheels. When he did mine he had one in stock. From requesting it (choosing stitching colours and a centre band put in) to it turning up was about a week.
I can only find the small coins on the Halfords website. Looks like people have the 80mm ones. Are these in Halfords shops? Just not online?
And good call about the fluffy side onto the car. Hadn't thought of that.
What do you guys use? I have seen a number of pictures with people with the big round disks of Velcro, but looking on eBay they are a couple of quid each! Doing both the front and back with 4 on 2 sets of plates is going to cost a fortune!
Any suggestions for where to get something cheaper?
After adding 3 more today, I'm currently running with 12!
9 on the rear mount holding it up and to the side, one metal one wrapped around the centre mount to stop it stretching, and 2 more metal ones holding 2 bits of heat wrap in place to stop it vibrating against the spare wheel well...
Is there one? Just parked my car back up to see half the rubber from my centre mount lying on the ground. I know these perish a lot, I wouldn't usually be that bothered, but this mount was brand new only last year. Is there an uprated one available?
Custom size at fancyplates is 520mm x 90mm. This is the same width as a normal plate, but shorter so it fits in the recess without hanging over the bottom.
Are the inlet manifolds the same?
Basically, because I have a 182 style exhaust on my 172, I get a lot of people going "oh, is that one of those 182 Clios?", and I go "Its a 172 actually", and they go "oh, whats the difference?". Id like to be able to answer that question with something more...
Sorry if this has already been covered, but searching for "172 182 engine" gets a billion and 1 results.
I know there are some differences between the 172 and 182 engine that allows it to produce the around 10bhp more, but what exactly are they?
