lol. That was doing considerably more than 55mph.
My 106 was hit by a corsa doing 47mph (according to the police report than banned the other driver for 2 years) and as you can see, the shell has stood up far better than the saxo at '55mph':
If you lose the backend of a clio at xxx mph, then...
I think its great, but what i love the most, is that it stills looks fairly standard ;)

Well, until you pop the bonnet anyways:
We bought a ph2 that had had it removed, which Nick was considering having as a track car. After driving it, we decided that it was utterly horrific, & shouldnt be done even if it gives you 50bhp. It was sold a week later lol.
Ruined the car imho.
I must admit, i followed numerous cars that were right on the back bumper of RWD cars through the fast corners - imho ure asking for trouble if you do that lol.
Hold right back, then overtake on the straights!! Much safer.
I was loving the slippyness tbh, on demand lift off oversteer is always...
I just use a spirit level (sometimes even the one on my iPhone) to set the camber lol ... then get the local garage to sort the toe out.
Rather amusingly, my method is usually fairly accurate.
Yup, quite possibly, but Spax have always literally given their stuff away lol ... which is why they still have the 'poor quality' reputation, which is what puts people like me off them in the 1st place. If they were £750, fixed forever like the KW, Bilstein, H&R stuff i think it would help the...
Just in case anyone is thinking of buying these things, MSV are currently offering them at 30% off.
So the 182 Cup 60mm spacing full rear coilovers are only £630:

This is cheaper than 519, even with his current 25%...
Yeah, basically, the clio is too soft at the rear end as standard, which is why it misses out on the saxo's tendency to try & spit you in the hedge at the nearest opportunity. To redress the balance, you need to stiffen up the rear end, not necessarily the front!! So the Pure strut brace might...
Personally, as it probably hasnt been that well looked after servicing wise up to this point, id probably be doing the following:
Fairly cheap: Engine oil & filter, Air filter, Pollen filter, Gearbox oil, Brake fluid, Coolant change
Fairly expensive: Cambelt, aux belt & dephaser.
Sorry, havent read through the thread since i last asked you on P1.
Thats a good point then!! Just make sure you give it a full service, so everything oily/filtery/rubbery asap.
1 service, in 7 years?
So in 2008, it had done 12k miles, then between then & now it went up to 187k miles, then someone put the clocks from a 28k miler in it, 'lost' the history, then sold it to you. Just out of history, please tell me that you have checked the mileages on the MOT history...
Its the gearbox, plenty of info on www.clio197.net.

Looks utter guff.
Rather amusingly i saw a 'stanced' civic on the side of the M3 the other day, i thought it had simply broken down, but no, the front wheel had actually snapped off as it was running such daft camber. I lol'd.
Predictably, the dude was wearing baggy jeans, skater shoes & a cap...
Your 4th gear synchro is on the way out, new gearbox time im afraid.
Call Renault and get it done under warranty, or if its out of warranty get onto customer services and ask for a goodwill payment.
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
If you heel & toe properly when you change down, there is little to no additional strain on the clutch/box whether you change at 1k revs, or 6k revs - as everything is matched together. For example, if i...
Re: Sir_Dave's Trophy. The 182 on (nearly) 182k ...
Aww man, it looked a right state when it was down there covered in dust & cr4p lol. But no, everytime you fix one thing, something else bites you in the bum. Still, once they're working 100% i cant think of many things id rather be driving :o
Re: Sir_Dave's Trophy. The 182 on (nearly) 182k ...
Thanks Tim :D
I must admit, so far i must agree, they do seem to offer both a very good ride, with a decent level of handling prowess, although whilst the ride height is sorted, the camber has been set with my iPhone and the toe is all over...
Didnt realise you had bought this!!
I lol'd when i saw the title and reminded myself of all the comments in your 107 thread.
Looks good mind, my first clio was an RB.
They are the 60mm bolt spacing ones, ECP (where i think you work) retail them at £965, so im sure you can get them cheaper ...
ECP are the main distributor, so even though i bought mine from ktec, they came in a box with ECP on the side lol.
I use mine for popping to the shops, driving to work & back (90 miles), random early morning/evening driving and hooning around various race tracks.
Not especially into cleaning, in fact in the 19 months ive owned it, ive never cleaned the interior & last last did the outside 5 months ago ...
