Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
Surely for this build, which seems to have been somewhat blank chequebook (cant imagine TDF are cheap lol), he would be better off putting a VAG box/dogbox/some other funky thing not made of cheese into it -...
I try :o
Personally, i wouldnt call that an upgrade, more of a sideways step, the 200 is more 'modern' so imho offers more grip, but less delicacy, & the R26 is just a sledgehammer, more grip, less finesse, more speed.
For me, an upgrade to a 1*2 is an Elise.
Ha ha, for my daily car i'd tend to agree, i do go through phases, probably about 8 per year in fact ;)
But for me the Trophy is a bit like Herpes, once you've had it, it never quite goes away. Even when you think its gone, its just hiding somewhere else, waiting to re-appear when its not...
Its a difficult question to answer really, once which can only really be answered by driving a Trophy.
The suspension really is something else.
Also, if you think about it, the diffference for you to change is £3300, but the Trophy already comes with Recaros (£750), decent suspension (£850)...
Looks lovely!! They do look far better in the solid colours that metallic imho.
Not sure why i bought a Nimbus one really. Actually i do, it was cheap.
I know :o
Will take some better ones, with my proper camera once ive cleaned it after Llandow!!
Few interior odds & sods, fancy gearknob, gators, dash strips, etc then get my harnesses back in & fit the gold 2118's ...
Ha ha, this one definately knows what a track looks like!! Because...
Yeah, does seem to ride beautifully, much less bouncy than the Sachs, although they had definately seen better days lol ...
No CS Saturday for me though im afraid, they inconsiderately booked it the weekend i go to Thailand again :(
I know that, its only banter!! Although someone did actually get crucified for putting H&R's on there Trophy a couple of years ago ;)
That forum is my 2nd home tbh, much better than here for seriousness. Afterall:
You buy a 1.2, you take sh1t.
You join Cliosport, you take more sh1t.
Your...
For some reason i think you actually have the rear spring platforms etc from Guppys old car that i broke, then sold to another Trophy owner? But yes, IR bad man. At least i didnt fit Spax ;)
Its concrete dust actually. Went i town a few months ago and the only space was next to some road...
Ha ha, it does need a clean i must admit, gonna do it after Llandow i think ... was last done in November :clown:
H&R's will end up being the same height as the Sportlines hopefully, which is a little higher than the MF springs from memory.
Its early, they're still busy polishing their leaky...
Or perhaps not.
This is a Trophy afterall ... Handling > Lowz :race:
On Sportlines
On H&R's
Very pleased so far, ride is lovely, far better than the Sachs in fact, which would imply that they are probably a little softer. Havent really pushed it particularly hard as the camber/toe is all...
Buy on condition & history, dont worry too much about mileage, unless its daft.
172 Cup is the pick of the sub £2k cars, 182 with Cup packs is the pick at £3.5k. Trophy is £4.5k plus.
If you want to fit aftermarket coilovers, go for a 172 or 'non-cup suspension' 182 as there is more choice...
A 12 month old 182 would have been worth 12 grand, to Cat C it, it would have needed at least £6-7k of repairs.
Thats more than just two doors and a front wing lol.
Avoid.
Shame about the crash, hopefully you'll learn from any mistakes you might have made.
At the end of the day, if you dont bin it at least once, you arent trying hard enough ;)
Why? He charges £200 more for the trackday kit (£899 vs. £710), then you have fitting on top!!
Bit gutting for him though really, he gets the development work done, then all the normal retailers undercut him.
Just put the price up, people are scared of cheapies ... My 197 cup being a prime example:
Advertised on here, 197net & PH for 6395 and no takers, whys it soo cheap etc... 2 days on ebay at 6995 and it was gone lol.
If you want 5250, advertise at 6000.
At 5250 im gonna turn up with 4500 in 20's, find loads of faults with the thing, then drive off in your car knowing that ive just rinsed you. Thats how it works Gally ;)
Re: the pic quality, i just reduce the size in paint by 50% then upload to photobucket...
Lovely car.
Still too cheap imho though, id advertise it at £5,995. That level of geekiness will appeal to the purists, not the type of people that scrape the barrell for the cheap ones. Like me lol.
Yeah, they will be, Larkspeed do them for £700. Although the price of £560 sounds more like trade, not retail tbh ...
H&Rs are circa £860 if you know anyone who can get 10% off at ECP - thats where all the resellers get them.
At £560 i would give them a punt, i seriously considered them recently at £700, but ending up just getting H&Rs instead.
Strangely, it was partly the cheapness that put me off.
