Trophy rear dampers are barely any stiffer than standard tbh.
Id go for some adjustable Konis - which is what my Trophy owners end up fitting!!
Nick172cup has some for sale as well iirc.
Lol, sounds about right. Although my take on it is slightly different:
'Sold my Trophy Recaros to some plum on CS for £850, bought exactly the same seats, but in green, for £250, then spent £600 on track days.'
;)
The V6 looks epic, ill have to try one at some point i think !!
Essentially the Trophy hasnt been cleaned in about 6 months, & last time, the only way we could get rid of the ground in dirt was by using a toilet brush. Needless to say, i only did that on the door sills, not the rest of the car, which is why it still feels as rough as a badgers ar5e...
Well, i've amassed the following so far:
Powerflex dogbone mount
GSF: 2 x Ball Joints - 424RE0231
GSF: Track rod ends - 436RE0170 + 436RE0210
If that doesnt sort it out, ill get the Powerflex wishbone/ARB bushes fitted as well.
Also discovered that one of the front Sachs is utterly sh4gged...
Im tempted to buy it, lower it, cover it in dirt & hoon around some race tracks in it.
<3 this car. Sadly, its not a Clio/BMW, & as such, banned from my purchasing list.
To be honest, i bought it solely on the basis that Colin Satchell had something to do with it. If you've been around french tat for a while, you'll probably have heard of him & Sandy Brown, they're fairly handy at what they do.
I've got the lightweight version, made a massive difference to the car!!
Although, without driving it back to back with a cup, i wouldnt be able to tell you if its any better the the normal one.
Id imagine however, that with something as important as pulleys, the lighter the better?
Yeah, the front ones are alot easier apparentl ... although tbf, im no mechanical guru, so im sure it'll still take me 8 hours ...
Yup, tiptronic with 'manual' change, its still not much fun though tbh, just makes it a little more amusing on country roads - where the box can be in the wrong...
Re: Sir_Dave's Trophy. The 182 on (nearly) 182k ...
Thats the issue i have really, spending £700 on something that is pretty untested is quite a risk. The only people that have reviewed them so far have only used GAZ/standard previously, so they dont really have anything decent to compare to...
I run -2.8 degrees front camber, -1.8 rear with standard Trophy suspension front & rear, but with the addition of Sportline springs & a Whiteline ARB set to hard - handles fantastically!!
Re: Sir_Dave's Trophy. The 182 on (nearly) 182k ...
Yeah, i had some of their fixed things on my fiesta 1.6 si back in 2000, & they were hard as rock, which isnt really want i want lol. The PSX i tried on a saxo vts were far better, but im still not realy sure whether they will be as good as...
So 26 days & 1500 miles later, i have a droning drivers front wheel bearing :dapprove:
Other than that, the car is ace, with mpg now hovering at around 29mpg. Whilst this is roughly the same as the M3, i can use pikey unleaded instead of VPower which does save a few pennies here & there. More...
Re: Sir_Dave's Trophy. The 182 on (nearly) 182k ...
Little update as a few £££'s have been spent over the past week or so:
New track rod ends & balljoints
Powerflex dogbone mount
Gold et38 2118's
Hankook RS2 tyres
CL RC5+ front pads
4 x Schroth B23A harness brackets
Also, i realised that...
I'm hoping to be the 1st to 200k ;)
Yours looks fantastic though, its clean in a way that mine can only dream of!!!
I realised the other day in fact that i have never cleaned the inside of it, in 20 months :o
When you can buy a 2 year old 200 Cup racer for £19k, surely you would be utterly bonkers to sink anywhere near £35k into a mk2 lol!!!??
To Carl - your 306 is utterly gorgeous. Reminds me of how epic my old 306 Rallye was tbh.
The cabin is terrible - its still made out of plastic that looks & feels like an elephant's ar5e.
So you think about all the fun you are having & the excellent mpg from your small french hot hatch.
Then you realise its doing less per gallon than your M3 and its no where near as fun as your...
Of course - when you consider i could sell my Sportlines/rear Koni's for £280, it makes them a very cheap alternative, ie £420 ish to change, vs spending £720 on refurbing my front Sachs alone!
Tempted to just bung some on & see what i think - would also give the members of CS a proper...
