I keep overthinking things. What if s**t goes wrong etc. I still think it would be best for the build to open it up but not sure if really necessary :/
It went to a good home  No use to me since I want to go turbo.
Are you still doing a decat? Keep in mind that some tracks have strict DB noise limits and will remove you from the track if you exceed them.
Your 130i sounds quite fruity, by the way.
Did some little things. Also need your help!
First changed the smoked side blinkers to oem orange.
Decided to clean the front arches as it was quite dirty. Saw this stupid plastic guard thing flapping around again. It always comes loose for some reason. I was fed up with it so decided to...
Just watch a few tutorials on youtube @Danith
There's no way you can mess up when polishing with a DA lol.
@Mr. Plums I need to find some time to read through your topic. The last few pages look pretty interesting :P
As I want to go turbo it might be a good idea to fit a catch tank some day, but the valve cover has a hole in it which goes straight to the oem inlet (phase1)
(i stole this image from someone else)
To fit a catch tank, I've read that you can use the fitting marked in green. But won't this...
Allthough at times I wanted to sell it, I still love how the PH1 looks.
Had the bumper painted. Wheels still need doing but you can't really see that in the pic. Engine will be rebuilt soon and turbo early next year.
I'm afraid to take my side skirts off. No rust if you can't see it!
I once made the mistake of having a peek inside when I removed the rear interior "door" cards. It will need attention some day :(
My brake pads felt kinda bad so I decided to get some new ones. Good think I replaced them as the old ones started to fall apart :/ In their defence, they have been through a lot of heat cycles.
These Carbone Lorraine RC6 pads replace my RC5+ front pads. I was really happy with my old CL pads...
Ahh I see. Interested to hear your thoughts on it when the car is driveable lol
Happy birthday! That wheel looks awesome. I love closed flat wheels. I've had one for a while but the suede got messed up :(
Do you know where I can find that wheel?
Just thought I'd share something while we wait for some actual progress :P
It's a little story about the kind people you meet at the Nürburgring.
A while back my mates and I were going to the Nürburgring for three days. We decided to stay at Hotel Rieder, which is a fantastic hotel. After...
@dylan172 Yeah but he wants way too much money for that. And I would still need to check everything. For that money I might as well buy a rebuilt engine from Engine Dynamics lol. I saw another one on facebook with around 98000 KM, but I don't really want to buy an engine without checking mine...
Haven't bought the turbo kit yet, as I first want to rebuild the engine. Since the engine has quite alot of miles I am hoping the cylinders aren't worn too much. Else I might have to source a new bottom end or low mileage engine (which is a struggle in the Netherlands), since I don't want do buy...
Ok, so I seriously neglected this topic. A small update:
Did some trackdays with the car, felt great. Upgraded the discs and pads to Brembo HC and Carbone Lorraine RC5+ pads. I can highly recommend these. What a fantastic compound.
Also put some NS2r tyres on the white wheels from the previous...
Nice project! Awesome to see another Dutch guy having fun with his Ph1! My project topic is hopelessly outdated :P
Maybe we'll meet at a Vrij rijden event one day :)
Would not cause difference in castor though
Not sure what you mean with that last part.
The wheel turns on multiple surfaces so it must be related to the castor difference. The question now is what would cause this. I think the cheapest option would to just replace the right wishbone as the...
Just did the brakes and did the sliders so it can't be that.
The wheel turns left slightly when braking extremely hard but car goes straight. When you hold the wheel straight the car pulls right.
I think this is related to the difference in castor.
They seem to have the same amount of...
Thank you both for your replies.
Yes, it might be within tolerances, but the steering wheel moves ever so slightly when braking extremely hard on a straight road. This is not noticable on track or during normal driving. I never noticed this before the box was changed but it could've always been...
A little over a year ago I've had my local garage change replace the gearbox. They removed the subframe for this job. About 6/7 months after that I took the car to a proper alignment shop (with a Hunter system if I'm correct) for some more camber.. After aligning the car they told me there was...
It is LHD. Car is from Belgium. The girl was fine but the driver had a few broken fingers, big cut in his arm and one of his arms was popped out.
Strange thing about this crash is that none of the airbags went off.
