I do have some genuine center caps to fit, bit I’ll wait until I re-balance all the wheels before fitting them in with a dab of silicone to stop them going walkies!
So, cracked on with a couple of jobs today.
Removed locking wheel nuts, the car never came with a locking key, bit of a mission but got there in the end. Replaced with standard bolts thanks to JMRS who lives just down the road! Ideal!
Headlights, all restored now, literally transforms the car...
Self employed chap, known him forever, was here for around 40 minutes, did every panel, even one on the boot lid I didn’t notice.
Cost me next to nothing. I won’t say how much as everyone will be calling him asking to pay the same.
Ok, so I pulled the rear interior panels off to reveal the under sills.... As expected there’s rust, however it’s solid both sides all the way along, I’ve given it all a good stabbing with my screw driver and I haven’t gone through or feel like I’m going to go through.

Rear lights are staying, with my growing age I now appreciate the original looks.
Igive the headlights a good going over as I’m pretty good at sorting these plastic lenses. If not I’ll get a new set.
Finally got my hands on a totally original, un-messed with black phase 1 172 in black.
Was on eBay at a breakers yard mid last week, rang them up and purchased it over the phone unseen for an absolute bargain!
It was delivered today on a transporter and I’m well happy about how good it is...
One of those cars I wish I never sold :( was almost perfect by the time I sold it.
If it came up for sale I would probably buy it back, spent so much time on it making it factory fresh.
The 2.0 dCi is fine mechanically, its like anything, look after it and it will look after you. The 2.2 dCi was the one to avoid, absolutely shocking.
When it was having its service on weekend the engine was totally leak free.
When I was your age I would have just fitted the thing without even giving the insurance a second thought, as it's still a Renault part that's for a Clio.
