I really wouldn't worry. There's nothing much you can do if it decides to go. It's incredibly rare on those engines too.
Coffee coloured liquid on the inside of the oil filler cap is a telltale. Also, loss of power.
The sliders move when the bolts aren't done up tight, but they stiffen up and go solid once the bolts are tightened.

Rust was appearing on the disc in a ring around the outside. Where the pad wasn;t touching it.
Having a few niggly problems with one of my rear calipers.
While both bolts that hold the caliper on are done up tight, the caliper won't slide as it's meant to! It doesn't make a difference which one you loosen, but as soon as you loosen either bolt even half a turn, it slides freely and...
I prefer the M3, looks wise.

I've just bought the 172, and insured it for a (what I would call) reasonable £1100.
