    Changing an engine......

Easier just to lift the box and engine out together, then split apart. No need to drop frame.

    Adam's budget racing thread

As long as it has 3 bolts per feet (2 on the back stay) then I cant see why they wont be ok). Im happy with my SD cage, basic 6 point bolt in (32kg)

Nice one Nick, funnily I have my ARDS booked for next week and completed my medical today, Im hoping to at least get 1 or 2 races in before the end of the year to also gauge how 2014 will look (coming from a novice), so sacrificing £58 seems worth it....

    Mintex M1144 too much for a 1.4?

Regardless of power the car still weights the same (more or less). Depends how fast your breaking from i.e in corners, but seeing as you don't see track use I would say no, but if you get them at a good price there is no harm in trying.

How much have you sunk into your Clio?

I paid 3.5k for the car, but that does not inc tax and insurance :/ It is a dedicated track car so suppose it does not count really.... Or does it? Bet there more ppl on here who have spent more than that.

    New engine running...however odd noise

Good advise Morgan, will try the bolt removal process. I know what you mean about the dowls, Im 100% I checked this (remember seeing 2)when seating the box and engine together (on ground) So cant see it being that, however Im not ruling it out as I was rushing to get the engine back in. I will...

    New engine running...however odd noise

OK, well I only noticed it as i was under the car doing the bolts up and seeing a large gap, and the gap had not mated up fully, I should have pushed the sump fully against the gear box, but using the straight edge when attaching the sump when engine is out should have solved this problem, any...

    New engine running...however odd noise

Why the hell do Renault do this, why cant they use 8.8HT bolts lol...I have seen ppl on here respray those parts, so they must have come out somehow and be able to be put back in.

    New engine running...however odd noise

Thanks Mark, Another problem which I think is related to the clutch noise, is the gearbox and engine are flexing when the dogbone support bracket is removed, I noticed this when I was tightening it up when the engine went in, I think the imput shaft has made contact with the friction plate...

    New engine running...however odd noise

Right, decided to tackle this by dropping the subframe to replace the clutch, on closer inspection I have a hair line crack on the sump, so will be replacing the sump also. So....a few nights ago I soaked all the subframe bolts in WD40 and tonight I loosed the bolts....until I hit a few...
