Yea I will try that, need to insure it first.
Iv had trouble lining the gear linkage pinch bolt up, keep missing 1st or reverse gear! do you think that could be causing the noise at all ( cant see it myself as its coming from flywheel) but worth a shot?
Got a friend to depress the clutch today and inspected through the inspection hole in gearbox and it seems to be ok, no metal shaving or anything. started it up and noise is still there, however I did notice the selector fork vibrating when the grommet is off, is this suppose to happen?
Not...
Fitted a different box that was never marked up for the gear linkage pinch bolt, been trying to adjust it for bloody ages now and starting to lose it...
Manage to adjust it for all gears except reverse and when I can get reverse I cannot get 1st and 2nd....as it keeps hitting the left hand side...
Buy a car cap (half cover) or a full cover, works a treat and no more washing bird poop off, I park under a tree and use one. Most droppings happens in the early morning when birds feast on berry's in the trees...failing that get a tree surgeon to trim tree back in Spring to stop the tree...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
The wires that went though the door I pulled the pins out, all other wires I I clipped and used shrink tubing to cap them off. So far everything works...
I fired the T7 heater up and was actually surprised how powerful it was, I was expecting less, however...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
As promised pics.
Roof scoop and internal vents, they are going to be wrapped when the car does, had fun drilling holes into the roof....
Rear cup racer tow eye, (Im asuming) I used the 182 pick up point, but due to it not being threaded, two...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Hey Tom, the car is road legal and only passed its MOT last month, I wanted to keep it that way so I can road test the set up every now and again, but its not being used as a daily/weekend car for obvious reasons.
I ordered a new one today, I have tried to look inside but really need someone to depress clutch.. im starting nights this week,so time will be tight! dam it.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
The fan wire had two wires, Blue and black, so I cut the connector off the original fan that had only two wires, Black and brown, I simply connected the them both.
Looking good fella, I fitted my one yesterday too. However I drilled 6 x 48mm holes.
Are you going to fit a drain tube? I have seen the rain blank that fits to the front, will have to find the link.
Cheers Morgan, yea the car drives, but I dont want to cause any damage to the new clutch, just in case, so do you think it will be fine to use the old release bearing, once its cleaned up and inspected?
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Thanks Tom, and welcome to CS. I have purchased a 25 lap ticket, I used to buy the 15, however they have ceased now, I have purchased single tickets and 4 lap tickets.
I got a 8:15 lap in on last visit, so was happy with that. :)
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Few weeks ago I sold my Audi RS4, was one of the best cars I had ever owed, MRC tuned up to 449ps, she had seen a lot of track action, 45 laps of the Ring to mention a few...but she had to go in order to have space (and money) for the tow car and trailer...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Further update regarding engine swap.
Well, she fired up first time and sounds great, however when dipping the clutch there is a noise, this is possible down to a faulty thrust bearing, looks like I will have to get the box off and replace the the...
Yes it makes sense, I still have the old one from my old gear box, and that one looked a lot better quality than the new one I put in, I did have doubts. Do you reckon I should use the old one?
The engine had been sitting in the garage for about a year (no oil) so I assume it could be that...
As soon as you apply pressure to the pedal, even if I move the selector leaver by hand you can hear the noise starting up...gets louder when fully depressed.
