He was pretty good to be fair. Think he charged me £30 (or £35) to remove a gouge which a b**ch with a bag caused and left crease. Looks lot better now. If its same guy he was pdi bloke for Aston Martin which is where he learned his trade.
Might get saving for some random s**t from some of the...
I give as good as I get. Pmsl
It kicks off at 3 (or earlier if Dan {cerrone} gets too stuck in. If we get there just before, then we can get our payments in and get briefing, etc. (I should be there if Matt is coming round to help with spring(s)).
I would say to be at the place by around...
Think I'm sussing that... I didnt pull damper back up after removal from car...so that is more than likely the issue. Spent 4 hours trying to do it and if the damper not being pulled to top is answer I will be well fucked off. As we were just trying to do spring and wouldnt go down enough.
Cheers Tony :)
Typical Scott...enjoying it down there?
Pulled damper out? Took top mount off...undid bolts and took spring off...then tried putting Proline spring and failed miserably....so tried putting original one back on. May well be damper on then. But has REALLY pissed me off today.
I might not be going to this. Tried to change front springs over and fucked it up....so now I have one spring missing (not installed) and am unable to drive. So might not be turning up, I've paid deposit for myself and 9 others on the list. So might sell my deposit to someone else if they fancy...
Need help getting springs on...had prolines and wanted to fit. Did rears fine, bit have spent 4 hours trying to get the b*****d spring (original) back on so now have an undriveable car. Pissed off doesnt describe it.
Anyone have a better spring compressor than I have? Anyone able to come to...
Looks good...but really couldnt be arsed messing about THAT much. Tried loosening bolts earlier and seemed to move easy enough...so should be a happy bunny this weekend. :D
Fair play on your little home made alterations.
I did my rears in about 30 mins. I know the fronts will take longer...get another pair of hands is the best advice. I would have already done fronts, but have struggled to source a drop neck 21mm spanner. Managed to get one today, so this should be done on mine over the weekend (weather permitting).
I've had 2 springs do that in 2 years. One on driver's front and recently on driver's rear. I know parts fail...but when I took the rear spring out without too much hassle it made me realise just what could have happened (worse case scenario). Scary s**t!!!!
Lee,
That's cool mate...I'll give them a bell and tell them that there are 2 more coming. It will just be that you'll owe £41 on the day (as you won't be paying deposit). Makes it easier that way as taking deposit is a pain so near to the day.
Any more people having second thoughts and fancy...
Bloody Hell Dan....;)
Cheers Ad.
I've double checked with them and we're good to go for Sunday. Although, as I've already said...if you know of anyone else who is up for it. Let me know so we can get them down...they can pay the fee in full on the day.
Cheers
Just so people are aware...there have been deposits for 10 people (myself included), but they will still squeeze more people in up to a total of 24. We need notice though as we have the slot and they will fill any we haven't already advised them of. (I know Lee has asked for 2 spaces), so have...
No worries at all. There is also Renparts on here (who are in Doncaster), I used them to get a used alternator when mine packed up...and they do CS discount too.
Get yourself to a meet in the West Midlands, then you can see us and introduce yourself :)
If the engine is a 1.2 16v engine, it could be that when you drive it and stop (like at a roundabout), it will rev, drop, rev, drop, rev, cut out (is that what you mean)?
If so, get someone to remove the inlet from the engine and the throttle body is there, give it a clean up and should work...
Welcome to the club. As said, Fred is a legend with the 172 engines (sussed out a 182 with a 172 engine put in there...how many people would know that?)
Windscreens...not sure where you can get them locally (apart from Four Ashes Renault which is on the A449 between M54 J2 and Gailey island)...
When I had my Manc postcode for the 172Cup, its was £1,000 to insure her for the year...moved to Telford and it went down to £750...25% cheaper than living in the big city!!!
Try having a renewal quote of £580 and then going on Hastings for a see what they could do...and they came back with £3,500!
37 years old, TF postcode 4 years no claims and accident in 2009 full loss.
Ouch :(
f**king hell mate, I know its not the best news, but it could have been a lot worse.
Four Ashes Renault can sort body parts out...and T21ADS on here is recommended for the Renault mechanical parts you might require.
Hope you manage to get it sorted out as cost effectively as possible.
