To be perfectly honest, having driven our ITB'd one, & then driven the standard engined Trophy, the thing that really sets them apart if the throttle response, oh & the noise.
Which is sexual :o
It is definately quicker as well, just not explosively so like a S/C.
But boost is for gays.
I like the way that you have given an honest appraisal of throttle bodies, a lot of people expect waaaaaay too much from these things, so perhaps your insight will bring them down to earth a little.
15-20 bhp extra is not really going to make the car that much quicker in the grand scheme of...
Doh. Full cambelt / de-phaser change then swop the engine lol ...
Please please please make sure you uprate the suspension/brakes before fitted the lump though :S
Lovely wheels BTW.
Re: The car you wish you never sold... What were they?
Ha ha, if i'm bored tomorrow i'll put a thread up lol ...
Tbf, if i didnt have one still sat on the drive, id very much miss the Trophy!!!
Flipping epic car :approve:
Re: The car you wish you never sold... What were they?
I had one of them too!!
Was going to plonk a 2.0 zetec turbo in it, but checked the floorpan 1st .... i quickly sold it lol
Re: The car you wish you never sold... What were they?
106 Gti, 306 Rallye, Z3M, 172 Cup, Saxo Vts track car.
Essentially i regret selling most of my cars.
My Raceland fitted fine btw, just dont let Ollie82. anywhere near the bolts ....

Thanks Buddy. Saved for 5 years for that bad boy (since they launched them basically), then got it for my 21st
Flipping awesome fun, hence the vts track car a few years later ...
FYI, you can also get a 266mm kit to fit behind 14's, but with 4 pot Hi-Spec calipers ;)
To be fair...
Will let you know, i'll update the thread with pics anyway though, probably of Mike swearing at me, as he struggles to pull apart the derv bus ... the story will of course be written in the 3rd person as per usual, just to amuse ph-reebone ;)
They could start drinking for nite out early lol...
Ha. Good point ;)
I plan on doing all this on Saturday!

Swirl Flap Removal...
I justify it to myself in this way:
If i had to have one car, it would be an e46 M3, which would cost me £500 a month in fuel alone.
By having the derv, my fuel bill is £250 a month.
That £250 i save easily covers the running costs of the Trophy.
Man maths = winner.
:approve:
Same here lol ... Budgie, help, for Stella tokens?
Now have the following sat under my desk at work:
1. Swirl flap blanks
2. Vortex oil seperator
3. 7 litres of Castrol Edge5W30 (5l for service)
4. Oil/air/cabin/fuel filters
£200 on service items. Dervs are cheap on fuel at least...
Think the pdf over simplifies things somewhat lol ... the online guide looks much harder, not so much getting the flaps off, but getting to them in the 1st place lol ...
Cant say i've looked into it that much yet, gonna run it for 10k to iron out any problems 1st i think. Although £275 is a...
After a few days, i think i acually prefer this interior to the leather!! Certainly makes a nice change, although its bound to be a nightmare to keep clean - something to think about if you have kids to get around ...
Re: RWD, id say so yes, whilst its not the most powerful car in the world...
Thanks for all the positive comments guys :o
Even if they are only for the sexy colour & alcantara seats.
Price wise, its a '53 plate with 103k miles. Ended up paying £5,450 from a dealer with 12months MOT/Tax & 3 months AA warranty. Little more than i wanted to spend ideally, but it...
Feels like new! Needs some slightly better tyres on the front imho, but they'll do for the time being. Overall, its drives exactly like the brand new one i had access to back in 2004.
FYI, my 330ci had 153k on it when i sold it & that felt like it would go on forever ...
Fingers crossed...
