Thinking of insuring with Bell? You might want to read this first...

I think this is the future. I don't whole-heartedly agree with it, but can see it doing some good with learners and commuting kn*bheads.

172 Cup - Keep it clean!

Boo. Silver wheels win for me.

no grip in 1st gear when accelerating hard! normal?

I had this problem on my 172 Cup throughout its life. Mashing it in 1st always overwhelms the tyres. Stick it in 2nd instead. Sorted.

    Feeling very lucky tonight ...

But if it's in gear, and the car is rolling under its own momentum, it will be sucking air in. No?

    172 Cup front brake issue

My 172 Cup did this from new all the way up to 130k miles. Solution, as above, is either a passenger, or a bag of cement in the passenger footwell.

    130i stretching it's legs

I'd love to own that Merc. From that era they run and last forever.

So now we've all seen it, whose thinking of getting one...

I'll be looking at one as a replacement for my 200 in 2-3 years once I've had some proper use out of it. Head is still torn between this new Clio or a GT86 though...hmmmm. Much as I really want to hate the paddle shift I think Renault will likely still deliver a class leading driver's car, and...

How much do you spend on fuel a month?

    £320.92 Exactly.

People trying to prove their car is faster than yours?

I drive my Scenic flat out everywhere...130PS, boosted, comedy body roll, love it. It would be rude not to. In my 200 though I tend to just roll with the traffic flow. Have been known to slow down and indicate left to let tailgating retards past so they can have their accident in privacy.

Best way to make ur car stand out

Wheelspin every time you pull away. Anywhere and everywhere. You'll be noticed.

Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads

Lol, if I saw that driving past I'd think one thought only. "you sad c*ck of an ASW"

    Winter wax

Doesn't the surface get covered in crap in between the first and second applications? Or does this only apply if the car stays un-driven and in a garage?

    GoPro HD Hero mic problems

Mine isn't, it's a standard 3.5mm jack on the lower left hand side as you view the camera from behind. Is yours a HD Hero 2? I'm not sure if the spec changed.

    GoPro HD Hero mic problems

'tel' mode? Not come across that before. I plug an external mic into mine all the time and it's worked fine from the start.

That is actually insane. Will never understand that mentality.

OEM spec brakes on track. Anyone done it without issues?

I've had days ruined in the past where my brakes have not been up to scratch. Now, I realise I was always trying too hard so they were never going to cope. Drive for fun and to learn, and standard brakes should be fine. Go out there thinking you are a driving god about to set lap records and...

Cost of ownership - new v used

Thanks Daniel, will crunch that through later. Just realised I have a fatal flaw in all of this though...in that neither of the cars used in my calculation have Recaros fitted so they technically (according to CS) have nil residual value. LOL

Cost of ownership - new v used

I understand there are better deals available. What was the deposit on your deal Daniel? And was it over 3 years? At what mileage? Did it include servicing/maintenance? Was there a MGFV?

Cost of ownership - new v used

Kind of. I know there's a whole multitude of benefits to buying brand new, but those benefits come at a cost. I'm not saying that I'll only buy new again if the cost of new works out to be the same as the cost used. What I am saying is that if I feel the additional cost of a new car is worth...

Cost of ownership - new v used

Because accountant. I like efficiency. I like to use money efficiently so it goes further. Right, so, so far this has fallen down because; Both valuations for the used cars (the one bought new once it's 4 years old, and the one bought at 2.5 years once it's 6.5 years old) need refining...

CLIO IV RS - Trophy from page 111

Re: CLIO IV RS for 2013, Last news Is 3-door v 5-door the reason for this? i.e. all new 5-door Mk4s are 100 kg lighter than the 5-door Mk3s, but as the RS version is going from 3 to 5-door it's in effect gaining?

Cost of ownership - new v used

Simple answer to that is almost as old as is possible. We know that depreciation is the single biggest factor besides fuel so until the maintenance costs outweigh the depreciation it's always more economic to buy old. Let someone else take the exponential depreciation early on. Ultimately it...

Cost of ownership - new v used

PCP details I lifted from here - http://www.renault.co.uk/cars/model/new-cliorenaultsport/offerdisplay.aspx I know there's potentially better deals to be had, but this was as good a starting point as any. Anyone want to come forward with their monthly PCP cost/miles per annum allowance?

Cost of ownership - new v used

See note 4. I allowed £750 for cambelt/major service and ancilliaries, and 4x £200 per annum for an annual service. For all other costs I've not included them, as in theory, they'd be the same on both (tyres, brakes etc. are all mileage related). No servicing costs on the PCP as, so I...

Cost of ownership - new v used

Over 4 years and 24k miles, with new bought using Renault's 4+ PCP finance package and used bought for cash. Difference isn't as much as I thought it'd be. Interesting exercise all the same. I've spent the last few days playing with this and think it holds water. If anyone wants to challenge...
