Painting wheels

Never done this before - need to change the colour of some wheels.

Also need an idea of some products to use.

What's the easiest way of removing the original colour, apart from sanding....anything that can be painted on then washed off or similar.

Not too fussed about finish as they are going to be abused and track only. Will be matte black or just black.

From bare wheel,
Prime
Top colour coat
then lacquer.

If you want to remove the original paint, then I presume Nitromorse may help.

Or take them somewhere to be acid dipped etc.

Failing that it's sanding!

well if all he's bothered about is the colour change and he doesn't care about the finish, why not?

The heat given off from the brakes on track will bake the plastidip onto the wheels.

havent done juvious amount of research on plastidipping tbh just though it was easy to change colours and thats what the op wanted.

Nitromorse takes f**king ages!

Best off just giving the current finish a good roughing for the paint to stick to if you're not fussed about a concours finish

I dont think its too bad to be fair. Although the wheels do need roughing before hand then a base coat then lacquer that's where the cost will come from.

Cheers Dan, think I'll now give up on the 2nd hand wheels - far too much effort involved, first in obtaining an honest description whats bent straight etc and then prep'ing\painting, just going to get another set of the one's i'm already running.
