yes they are region free

plasmas tend to show blacks better, but can suffer from screen burn. Its worth noting that all plasmas/LCDs are setup really badly in shops, to make them brighter. If you mess with the picture settings it can be improved 100%

i would be careful of firmware hacks to 360s. If you don't play live much then go for it, but they probly will ban hacked machines sooner or later.
