Urgent - Can't get N/S lower shock bolt back in!

Hadn't tried any lube before posting about it squeaking as wanted to double check it wasn't a big no-no to lube bolts like that. I lubed it with some WD40 on both the beam thread and the bolt and there was barely any squeaking with the bolt going all the way in on a setting of 105nm! Difference...

Urgent - Can't get N/S lower shock bolt back in!

After some wire brushing, it appears to be going in but it's now squeaking when turning after a certain point, is that normal?

Urgent - Can't get N/S lower shock bolt back in!

Will dutifully wire brush the bolt! I was maticulous in not confusing the bolts, everything for the n/s stayed on the n/s of the car and everything for o/s stayed on the o/s so I couldn't make this mistake! I figured they'd go back in easy enough if I put the same bolt back in the same hole but...

Urgent - Can't get N/S lower shock bolt back in!

Yeah, it's on axle stands w/ trolley jack holding rear beam up in place so that the holes on the shock + beam are aligned. used a torch and checked fairly thoroughly that they were matching up just right!

Urgent - Can't get N/S lower shock bolt back in!

Decided to have a go at this as I said the other day. The other shock's back on fine and both the new springs are seated correctly but I can't get the last bolt back in!! It goes in fine until the last 2cm of bolt, where it gets very tight! I don't want to just force it in case it'll damage the...

    Replacing rear shocks

Don't we all! I sees what you did thar! Yeah, realised most people probably already have a torque wrench like that - the one I have doesn't show any torque levels!

    Replacing rear shocks

Thanks for such quick replies guys - I think I'll have a crack at it tomorrow. Is there any way to measure the torque I'm putting on the bottom bolt? Have read figures of 20-30n for top of strut and 105-130n for bottom. I have no experience with torque settings or anything to know how tight...

My FF BG 182 [PICTURE HEAVY!]

Some parts turned up from Adam @ Renalut Wolverhampton on Friday as promised! Cracking bloke, very helpful, generous and professional despite being harassed by some sort of she devil whilst I was on the blower! Top bloke for the coffee stain on the invoice too! Haha. Thanks to Renparts as well...

    Replacing rear shocks

I've searched and decided I'd like to have a go at this myself.... but have additional questions. This thread says you can do this job without even jacking up the car. I just want to double check, if I undo the bottom 18mm nut and the top of the strut under the rubber seal in the boot and then...

    Weirdest Clio...

Personally really like the rims on that arctic blue. A lot of Dads in this thread? Some of them are a bit OTT but I think I'd rather see them than another perfectly detailed OE 182. Maybe that's because I suck at detailing though? Haha.

What have you done to your car today ???

New (to me) wing mirror went on, cheers renparts!

My FF BG 182 [PICTURE HEAVY!]

So, few things to update with. Had someone look at the N/S front today. Reckoned there was a bit of play on the track rod end and wanted to look at the drive shaft. Getting some other goodies fitted soon anyway, so decided not to pay for him to look at it in detail right now! In the...

Yeah I'm glad you posted this as I've been a bit confused by what it actually meant!

My FF BG 182 [PICTURE HEAVY!]

Tackled this earlier. Was evident once my head went under the car that a previous owner had already deployed the larger washer fix. Without adding saucers to the arse of my car that's not really a viable option any more! For a short term fix I've loosened one of the bolts off and supported...

Trip to the garage later... cyclist in Bristol caused me to swerve and I'm gutted to say I curbed the n/s front wheel, which knocked the tracking for six and scraped my brand new Turini's! They'd literally only been on the car for less than 24 hours. In the same trip, I folded the o/s mirror in...

noob has fitted brakepads himself !

Grats! Tempted to dig the laptop out and find the pics of the brakepad/disc from one of the Renault trafics transfer vans I drove last winter season in France. Scraping... mmmmmm. Edit: I dug the laptop out!

    Droning noise from rear

So, I'm getting a droning noise around 35-40mph and around 70mph. It makes this noise with the clutch in or out and it's coming from the rear of the car, but not so loud that I can really discern a particular side. It's made this noise for a while and I took it to Kwik Fit / ATS and they both...

Thanks! I'm pretty keen on them! Drove a 4 1/2 hour round trip to Nottingham to get them but I think it was worth it! This Pipercross Viper also turned up. Picked it up reasonably cheaply from the for sale section, from a Clio being broken. Hose was pretty knakered for my tastes, so will be...

So, they say bad things come in threes. Won't write a Mills & Boon novel about it but: Some c*** has smacked a dent into my drivers side door, with their door. Obvious as f**k, they knew they did it and they just left it. Dicks. Didn't even leave a note to say sorry, even if without details...

    FF Inferno 182

Re: First 182 - Inferno with Cup Suspension Mate how did you get your exhausts SO shiney? Products? Method? Mine's currently dirty and want to scrub it up so it gleams like yours does! Nice job!

Grill respray went badly. The Grill as a whole, I think was fine. Though I think I'd like to pick up a second hand grill and really take the time between very light layers for a perfect finish at some point. Painting the flag on however, was frankly a nightmare. Couldn't get the masking tape...

I think so. I've seen one driving around the area but it might just be you! Haha. Thought I saw one in the car park across the road but wasn't 100% from that far away. Minor update. Bought some primer, black & clear lacquer rattle cans from halfrauds. Going to have a go at reconditioning my...

    Yorkshire 182 FF

Have to say, I think the standard lights are a little better, but I don't personally think they're some kind of miricle improvement at all. Ever since i bought my 182 I've not been a huge fan of the standard rear cluster myself, I've yet to see a decent alternative though. Most are worse than...

Please tell me you're not the Clio in the Renishaw car park I've been considering making a mad dash for and sticking a CS flyer under the window? I'm currently working in Stonehouse too... If you work for Renishaw too, that (today) bird crap covered 182 at the end of your car park is mine! Haha

I imagine it's probably in the same place as mine was if it has one. Under the drivers side scuttle panel (platic bit under wipers). You'll find a rectangular looking box there with one screw, take that out and then pull the old filter out. Replace it with the new one which will need to be...

Chavs/General idiots on the road rant.

Yup, exactly what I wondered. You're ranting about him being a chopper for coming right up behind you and over taking you, with additional dangerous driving further on and yet you tried to speed up and follow the guy, presumably just to see more/for the craic? Surely, you speeding up meant you...
