I have been looking at the Matt Lewis Racing kits they sell and think I will be going for one of these eventually. I am happy with the push on connectors providing they are decent quality as then I can get the hoses to the perfect length and we use those very same push fits offshore and don't...
Oh and we now have Cows at Lads Lodge! We are making it into a Business. At the moment we are making a loss as we are buying in a lot and investing but this will offset my ridiculous 60% tax I have to pay on the offshore job!
This is Bill & Ben the Aberdeen Angus:
You may recall the...
And for those of you who like the animal updates here is the incubator set up in the loft which is currently housing about 100 eggs which will be hatching over the next 3 days.
And here is Dora the Explorer who is our bravest and inquisitive hen. Up to no good as per usual showing me that...
Due to being offshore and lack of funds there isn't really much to update but I have been doing a lot of thinking, planning, organising so things should be progressing slowly soon.
After messing up the wiring loom I was unable to go down for mapping as planned on the 18th so this will just have...
That looks like the actual aerial connection. If it's anything like mine then it goes down the drivers side and connects to the aerial on a black connector clip behind the rear side window.
Had enough of this wiring lark now. I attempted to run the standard loom again and connect everything back up including as above following the photos. The biggest problem I had is that there are lots of black wires and didn't know what was what. Now every time I put the ignition on it does...
Thanks for that info. I cut the loom going down to the air bag ECU and OBD2 port which is what started my problems. I unplugged the air bag ECU and the engine still fired up so thought it would be ok to cut. Obviously not! I will have a closer look at your photos and my loom. If you could send...
That is interesting. I am sure I could get mine to run if I knew what was required. What did you leave connected? Is the air bag control box still connected up and what about the side impact switch things?
Total nightmare. Swapped looms over only to find they are different. The connector blocks are different for the rear loom for a start, it still won't run despite maintaining the original Can box and stuff and it now has an ABS warning too. Took that look back out and will put the original in...
I think I made the mistake of thinking the OBD2 port wiring and Air Bag control unit wouldn't be needed at all and I could cut the whole lot out. Seems I was wrong. Lol. I will just just the loom from the other car rather than mess about reconnecting wires on this one. A wiring diagram would be...
Ah that's what I thought you were talking about. No it wont fit in and I snipped it just above where your red circle is. The two cables that join to one that you have your finger on do fit though without having to snip or crimp.
Fitted a 2 Liter oil breather tank too. Most people seem to use a Mocal but they seemed very expensive so thought I would try my luck with a cheaper alternative. Hopefully this will pass the MSA scrutineers.
The hose looks out of place though so will look at replacing that.
I am not sure if I have Epas wiring but I will have a look as that would be handy.
The crimping tool I bought was this from eBay and only £18. Its actually the same as the one I have at work offshore:

As for the last question I don't fully understand...
I got the window up and the engine started no problem on the battery. I unplugged the air bag control unit and it still ran ok. Then I went totally daft and cut the loom that went down to to the air bag control unit and OBD2 as the GEN2 ECU doesn't use the OBD2 anyway. Now the engine wont...
Well it rained last night! The drivers seat is now soaking. lol
Anyway I managed to get the battery wired up this afternoon.
Inside I have just gone straight from the bulkhead to the mega fuse as I still have the dash out. Once sorted I will wire up the cut off switch properly.
Part of me wanted to take it all apart just to learn. Plus I have the steering colum to change and wiring to strip out. With me also having the donor car I wasn't too bothered about breaking anything and have lots of parts I can refurbish and swap out.
I want to cut the dash down to save weight...
I'm more worried about getting it running again. Lol.
Might have been wise cutting around the heater as the matrix box now sits about 5mm from the ducting for the windscreen
