I replaced the rear hanger on my 172 last month, it was about £23 from the main dealers. The rubber stretches and weakens over time, so they do need replacing now and then.
Not tried PE2s yet. I was on a bit of a budget when I bought the Toyos, a set of 4 was half the price of 4 PE2s.
Edit; just noticed you are in Plym too.
I have 4 Toyo T1-Rs on my 172, have done about 1500 miles on them. I found the side walls roll when going into a corner, much more than the tyres that came off (Falcons I think). The T1-Rs do grip well, I have got used to them now, going smoothly in and out of corners makes the side wall roll...
Spotted you at about 17:10 today overtaking me on the A38 near Lee Mill. You had a KTEC sticker in the back window. Car looked cleaner than mine! (must wash mine this weekend...)
Re: Possible new splitter found!!
I cut the raised lugs off the back so it sits flat on the bottom of the bumper, then used 19 screws to fit it. I also made a small triangular cut on each corner on the back edge to help it tuck round the tightest part of the bumper corner.
A really good gathering today (my first with the Clio). Enjoyed the drive from Ivybridge, some really good B roads that were reasonably pot hole free!! Car got pretty mucky though, if I go out and wash it for the second time in the same day my neighbour is going to think I am well strange...
I would go with a compression test and block test the cooling system. If either test fails you can be fairly sure its a head based issue. If both tests pass start hunting round the cooling system for leaks, water pump, thermostat problems.
Re: Possible new splitter found!!
Fitted a Skoda splitter on my 172 today. Pretty happy with the results :) Was about £12 from the local Skoda dealership.
I got the 25 point check, normally that would be a good thing I guess. For me it annoyed the crap out of me, mucking about with my carefully set tyre pressures and I really hope they didn't top up my oil with some cheap mineral crap after I did a full oil and filter change 3 weeks ago with some...
Anyone else get fed up of finding new stone chips and little scratches every time they wash the car (or do I just have the softest paint in the world...)
