Do Exhaust Hangers Really Need Changing??

Car  C3 Picasso Beast
Just wondering if the rear and centre exhaust hangers really need changing if I change my exhaust on my 172 as to quote from K-Tec's site;

"If you are changing your Clio exhaust you should also be changing this hanger as well as the rear hanger."

If they do need changing would some of the cheaper ones on eBay like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Renault-Clio-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4a9f4763dc be ok?? Anybody else use/used them??

Thanks

I replaced the rear hanger on my 172 last month, it was about £23 from the main dealers. The rubber stretches and weakens over time, so they do need replacing now and then.

Yeah, i changed the rear one on mine, the exhaust was knocking around all over the place before,

Replaced and upgraded both mine at the same time, didn't pay £23 tho, KTec sell them for about £12 for rear and £7 for middle.

Be wary of cheap ones. I bought one for a tenner from autoparts4u or something like that. Looked ok but was even weaker than the original mount that was now sagging. I just used a lot of string to maintain the original mount's design and was ok for a good few months.

I have a ktec ss stealth and it's a lot heavier due to stainless steel.

I replaced mine a year ago, and they're split and knackered already. Need replacing again really, but I might go for something uprated.

just bought a cheapo cos needed it urgently. looks like its gonna last about a week! nwp one i think when i get back from hols.

Was gonna say, I fitted a new rear mount on mine and the day I fitted it I loaded it up with cable ties!

Prevention is better than cure!

I have a custom made stainless on mine (same shape as renault though) and its got two hangers on the back. Unfortunately, both rubbers are beyong help so, until I can get it sorted at weekend, this is my temp fix:

Have just ordered a set from K-Tec along with the exhaust so I'm hoping mine on my car actually need replacing...

Thanks for the help!

I packed mine out with something like this

rubber%20stopper.jpg

The Rubber stoppers that you put on the base of stools etc. - 45p for a Pair....Saves having to raid your socket set.

i have also done somethink like this and is stronger and better than standerd tbh.i have a miltek set up and i dont want nothink sagging in time so if you want a job doing do it your self lol

yes spot on aboo.the reson i have gone about fixing it like that is ino its held tight uno

My mounts need changing now due to weight of Milltek. Will have to bob and get some, cheers avit.

I am pretty sure the rear hanger I took off was the original, 7 years deep in the game. So my £23 genuine OEM part should love me long time.
