3.5 years, and a few changes... Nothing special!

The only way it'll be detailed is if you do it lad... Momentary madness when I was thinking about that! Sportlines were mentioned, tyres are service items, and the plates... Fair enough, missed them! Also missed the 5mm spacers... I apologise!

Fair enough... They're pretty much an exact copy of them!

Cheers... They're Rota R Specs, which I got from a trader on here- RareRims

3.5 years, and a few changes... Nothing special!

It's been a while since I posted anything, so thought I'd share what's happened to the cup whilst I've had it... It definitely won't be to everyone's taste, but I'm a lot happier with it as it is now! It was without doubt 'chavy' when I first got it, and although most will perceive it as still...

Quick question about the fitting of short shifter link

Not sure if it'll help, but I cut the surround off the original (cut around the 'bar' section & then 2 cuts up to the hole, so it springs closed) and then slipped it over the new linkage... there was still a little play though. I also had to adjust the linkage after (similar available gears...

    172 cup tyre choice/pressure

I find the s-drives are pretty good in the wet, although I run higher pressures than recommended- 35 & 32... As said, it's trial and error with tyres.

    Loud "clunk" when moving off

Possibly cv joint... Mine 'clunked' when moving off, and it was a split in the sleeve... New sleeve, with fresh grease, and all was good!

Live data question. Suspected lambda issue, poor fuel consumption

Hi Henk, My long term trim is down to 116 now... at what figure do I need to be thinking of getting it sorted out? Cheers

    De-cat? Sports Cat? Where?

Might be placebo, but I run a ktec sports cat with standard exhaust (did have the SS stealth but it was too 'boomy' at 60+) and it makes a difference. Both in sound and performance. Ktec have just released a super quiet 2.25 SS stealth, which is another option if you don't want intrusive noise.

Osram "Cool Blue Xenon Look" Sidelights CRAP imo pictures inside!

They're taken at different heights... My headlights are blue bulbs as well, which may have made them look more blue. They're definitely not yellow though! I got mine for £6.50 on eBay, bit more expensive but I thought they were worth it (12 months warranty as well). Hope that helps

Osram "Cool Blue Xenon Look" Sidelights CRAP imo pictures inside!

Mtec bulbs are a better option IMO (Xenon filled). Here are some cr*p pics I just took... the second pic shows they're not quite as blue as a first makes out (other bulbs are blue too):

    Insurance?

I've just renewed mine, and prices ranged from 1300 to 640! Cheapest for me was Sky Insurance for the second year in a row... I assume it depends if it's modified or not as to where's cheapest.

    Rota R-Spec Alloys on 182

Doesn't answer your question... But, Rarerims sell these (I got mine from there). They are a trader on here, so it might be worth comparing prices! Ben's a top bloke by the way

Anyone who wants a really really really quiet ss exhaust = new btb

Right, Joe has got back to me... here is the message he sent (I've put the price in bold): Thank you for your enquiry about our "Ninja" super quiet 172 exhaust, I wasn't quite prepared for such a quick response having only just fitted the first one on Monday! This option will be a special...

Anyone who wants a really really really quiet ss exhaust = new btb

I have just spoken to BTB about this exhaust, and they are currently working on the drawings... They are going to email me once they have finalised the specifications with the price, so I will post it up when I get it! Currently they think it'll be the same system with a different backbox (as...

    MTEC

Doesn't help much, but I've got MTEC sidelights... and they're a bit 'bluer' then my headlights (I think they were these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Renault-Clio-v6-172-Xenon-Upgrade-Bulbs-h1-h7-h3-501-/250052678036?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a384d1194). Ktec sports cat and stealth too droney/intrusive... options?!

Mike1pow- Excellent, thank you! I'll be running a sports cat with it, so should be similar in sound! Stu172:Cup- I will be if the BTB is noticeably quieter; but obviously won't be for sale until I've confirmed it 100%! Gaz-kev- Thanks for the links, but I've got a standard exhaust from when I...

Ktec sports cat and stealth too droney/intrusive... options?!

Mike1pow- could you please report back on the noise whilst cruising at 60+ once it's fitted? Will you be running a standard cat, sports, or decat?

Video request: BTB stealth on a 172

I don't doubt the build quality etc... as said, it's only the noise levels at cruising speeds that I'm worried about. Seems to be conflicting opinions about this in the threads, so thought people with them fitted may have videos that haven't been posted?!

Video request: BTB stealth on a 172

Yeah, I've seen them... Plus one other of a 0-70 run. I just don't want to commit without hearing a few more... If it's not noticeably quieter than the Ktec I might as well put the standard back on! The 3 on their site are with a standard cat, so wanted to hear one with a sports cat ideally...

Video request: BTB stealth on a 172

As above really... I'm thinking about swapping my Ktec stealth for a BTB, but I would like to hear a few more videos before committing... It's cruising between 60-75 that I'm most interested in! (Preferably with a sports cat or equivalent) Thanks in advance

Ktec sports cat and stealth too droney/intrusive... options?!

That's good to know... even with a sports cat it's not going to be intrusive. Think I'm going to have to hear both first hand in order to decide! Thanks very much for your info, certainly swayed me towards the BTB!
