    CG Lock... discount code

Just to let people know, I found a discount code tonight... £34.99 delivered (http://www.cg-lock.co.uk/): hot Not sure how long it will work for though! Hope this helps someone

    clio 172 short shift

I fitted one today and it's surprising how much a difference it makes! I was sceptical about the 30% reduction in 3rd to 4th, but it certainly makes a noticeable difference... roughly an inch shorter when in 3rd (by judgement only)! Definitely worth it... although I had to get it all...

    Dogbone Mount bushes....Talk to me.

It'll definitely vibrate... but you either get used to it or it dies down after a while!

    Remap and/or inlets, or neither...?

Anyone with matched inlets and a Rs Tuner map, do you think it'd be worth the extra notes (roughly £400 all in)?
  5. smiler_

    Remap and/or inlets, or neither...?

I'm not interested in the bhp figures as such, just the driveability...! I know the order won't make a difference, just trying to gauge whether it'll be worth the extra notes to get them both done at the same time, instead of waiting for 9 months until the renewal?!

    Remap and/or inlets, or neither...?

Laingo- So you don't believe getting both done is worth the extra £100? Domjolly- It'll just be a generic map to start, then custom if henk thinks it's worth it at a later date. Already got a sports cat, so inlets and remap are definitely the next things to be done... just a question of when!

    Remap and/or inlets, or neither...?

Right, another help me decide thread... I’ve got a Rs Tuner waiting to be used, but my insurance company want £120 to add it to the policy (I’ll be declaring it no matter what people may say); so basically I have 3 options: Option 1- Bite the bullet, and do the remap and get matched inlets...

A Charge of 25% of my policy for 6hp...?!

£120 is definitely excessive... That's why I was so surprised, and thought I'd post it!
  9. smiler_

A Charge of 25% of my policy for 6hp...?!

I completely agree... that's why I'm debating whether to wait for the renewal or just bite the bullet and get it done now. Definitely not worth the risk!

A Charge of 25% of my policy for 6hp...?!

Ah... I'm with you now! Fair enough, but I've asked for a quote now... so it's not even an option (wasn't anyway though)

A Charge of 25% of my policy for 6hp...?!

It is ridiculous... but they were easily the cheapest when I got it, I think it's more the fact that it's mid policy... I know the gains/£ are shocking, but I'll be keeping this car for a while, so wanted to 'freshen it up' a bit.

A Charge of 25% of my policy for 6hp...?!

ECU mod... the gain didn't really affect it. I just stated 6 as I read that, in theory, it's 6-8. Sky

A Charge of 25% of my policy for 6hp...?!

Probably not... but you never know, and it's not worth the risk in my opinion!
  14. smiler_

A Charge of 25% of my policy for 6hp...?!

It would be the logical choice to wait... but it's not till February, and I quite want to get it sorted! It works out at £120. And, I'm in the Plymouth area
  15. smiler_

A Charge of 25% of my policy for 6hp...?!

Haven't yet... but I always declare mods, so debating whether I should just wait until the renewal!
  16. smiler_

A Charge of 25% of my policy for 6hp...?!

Just phoned my insurance company to check how much it'd be for a remap to be added (Rs Tuner)... a charge of 25% of the policy! Even the person I was speaking to was surprised, but apparently there is a minimum charge for any ECU modifications (calculated in percentage of policy)... I was...

Airbag ECU... not the usual question

Due to having a different airbag ECU in my car (a 1.2 clio's) the Rs Tuner cannot recognise the VIN... Subsequently, I would like to buy a second hand ECU with a matching VIN; which is obviously a lot cheaper than buying new and getting it programmed! So, to make the search easier, I was...

    Insurance joke

Mine went down £10... but that was with an extra year NCs and turning 25... Sky was easily the cheapest for me...!

    Help me decide...!

What would that equate to at the wheels then?
  21. smiler_

    Help me decide...!

Ha... I'm not chasing bhp figures, just wondered as an indication of whether or not it'll be noticeable! Having said that I always have wondered about what it was running though!
  22. smiler_

    Help me decide...!

No, but it will have a before and after result when I get this done... I'm not after speed as such, just want better low and mid range performance. It's already lowered, and had standard replacement discs and pads a few months ago; so possibily in the future it'll be an option...! I thought...

    Help me decide...!

Can't ask for more than that...! I'm definitely not in it for the sound... quite surprised you lost 4 mpg though!
  24. smiler_

    Help me decide...!

Happy days... that what I wanted to hear! You're seconding the cat over the mounts then?
  25. smiler_

    Help me decide...!

Fair suggestion, but like I said I don't fancy the risk of buying second hand... chances are it'd be all good, but still! Does 7bhp for a sports cat sound reasonable or a bit hopeful?!
  26. smiler_

    Help me decide...!

Could do... but I like them! So you would definitely go for the cat Louise? The mounts would give the car a new feel though, and I'd be a tonne better off...! Would the remap take into account the cat, or could I just add it later without affecting it?!
  27. smiler_

    Help me decide...!

An alternative option would be to get uprated mounts instead of the sports cat...? I've already got the lower mount poly bushed and don't particularly need to change the others, but sounds like the general consensus is that they’re worth the extra vibration and they'll give a new feel to the...

Yeah, I was thinking about that... but to be honest I don't want the hassle of changing it for MOTs and would prefer to stay legal!

    Help me decide...!

Hi everyone, I was thinking about getting a new car, but realised there’s no other car in the price range that I’d prefer... so thinking about tweaking the cup to get a new feel! I’m booking in to get matched inlets (upper and lower) and a remap, and can’t decide whether a sports cat would be...
