I've never had the time to do them on my car but the 2 rear lines could easily be remade to look identical to the originals but in stainless steel with proper braided hoses.
If anybody has got a set in good condition I could borrow for a week or so I could look at making a set. I hate seeing...
I'll do anything else myself but leave the belts to the expert 😂
The car will be for sale soon, not sure how much value it'll add but there was no way I wasn't putting belts etc on it while it was apart. The clutch I put in last year when the gearbox was changed has still got the writing on the...
Belts, pulleys, and water pump done this afternoon, left the timing to my mate as he's got all the proper tools and done quite a few over the years.
All ready to get swapped over tomorrow 😎
I'd say 1500 at least with belts done.
I was looking at 172 prices the other night as i thought my cup was only worth around 2k, if the ones around at the moment for sale are an accurate idea of what they are going for (which they might not be!) I reckon I should be advertising it for 3500 😯
Thanks everyone for opinions. Haven't looked at values for a while so was thinking I might only get around 2k for mine with a new engine and all the belts and dephaser done which was making me wonder if it was worth it.
Just had a look on ebay and there are a couple with around 130k up for 4k...
Yes, that's why I thought I'd try and get some opinions on what it's worth. My mate said cash the cat in, sell the Turini's with brand new PS3's separately and see what you can get for the rest as a complete car?
I'm guessing if I got another engine and even with new belts etc it's probably...
Having a bit of a dilemma as the engine on my 172 cup destroyed itself yesterday.
Just wondered if a 172 cup fully rolling minus an engine is worth anything or peanuts vs what it would be worth if I get another engine and put new belts/dephaser/water pump etc on it. Could do with people's...
The original cat on my 172 cup is 100% coming off now, having something that's worth nearly 1/3 of the value of the car hanging underneath waiting for some scrote to chop it off is playing on my mind now 😬
Will swap it for a decat pipe to start with and see how noisy it is (it's a daily driver)...
I ordered 4 new PS3's for my 172 cup earlier today, cleaned the car at the weekend and the sidewalls are still like new.
Just looked through my order history and they've been on for just over 2 years and done about 29,000 miles.
Washed the last few months worth of dirt, salt and brake dust off mine today.
It's spent most the time sat in the compound at work this year as I've been away working a lot so good to get it back home and give it a good clean 😎
That's not where it's going, it was just sat on top the current exhaust manifold there so I could see how close the turbo elbow would be to the alternator 😉
Not much progress lately as I've been away working on and off for most of the last few weeks.
Pretty much got all the bits to start the exhaust manifold now, just need work to get quieter 😪
Still got the standard cat on my 172 and was crapping myself the other week when my missus told me a gang had done a whole street nearby in broad daylight 😮
I'll see if any appear in a few weeks as the current ones still have a bit of life in them and not using the car that much at the moment.
That was actually my next plan. I've got Sport contact 3's on one of the sets of wheels for my gti-r so know they are good tyres 😉
Not a lot of progress lately as I've been busy with work but got the merge collector now and some 3" elbows and v bands so just been seeing how much room I'm going to have, or not have 🤣
Anybody that buys a car like that believing that it'll need nothing done for a couple of years (assuming it'll actually be driven) is seriously deluded 😉
Didn't get a huge amount of work done over Xmas on the car but I just found some old pics going through my laptop, this was from the National at Wiscombe park in 2012.
I've driven plenty and most of them are 😴 As well as being dull modern cars are just a big garage bill waiting to happen with DPF's, dual mass flywheels and loads of complicated electronics.
Must take after my dad, he's 74 now and up until fairly recently his daily driver was a 1979 mini that...
Still the same number I've got in my phone. Can't remember the last time I spoke to him, must have been getting on 10 years ago!
Intrax 4 way, I was originally just going to get a set of single way Intrax RSA dampers but then these came up!
I never really bother looking at modern cars as I...
A Golf R is about 300kg heavier 🍔🥧 have they started using a proper 4wd system on them yet or are they still fwd but send some power to the rear on special occasions (like mid corner) 🤣
Found a few old videos
They all got broken for parts when they were worth peanuts and people used to just scrap shell's rather than fix the rusty bits 🙁 I had to seriously up the value at my last insurance renewal!
Never had it dyno'd when I had the GT3071 on it but I'm guessing around 420 ish bhp, it's a 2.3...
I definatly remember your user name. I bought it in Oct 2002, that was a few years before the values started dropping and everybody was breaking them for bits 🙄 I remember when you could buy a half decent one for 2k 😂
It looks better in the pictures than it really is! The rear arches have a...
