Loctite stuff from Halfords is fine. I'd torque it down first, let it go off overnight and then put the cam seals in the next day. As Fred said DON'T push them all the way in. I made that mistake...
I've thought about replacing the throttle cable but it does appear quite a new one. I can't see any damage to it.
Engine seems fine mate, save for the idle issue. It pulls well, or seems to, so i'm quite chuffed with that bit. I've also built a 'spare', it's sitting on the stand in the garage...
