Used to be into my old metros many moons ago, ive had more of them than I care to mentione. i'd love another but cant you cant find them today (not at sensible money anyway). This was the last one I built that I think is still going somewhere in the country:
Still got a 16v converted vtr but...
cheers for the advice, timing should be fine (was done at BTM) and i've not had the problem before now which I thought i would have come across. What I did find is some melted red plastic stuck to the manifold and heat shield so my theory is during the MOT over the weekend the tester has left...
Should I rig up some sort of heat shield for this? I mean none of these cars had one standard and are usually driven hard on track by some who don't run one so how do they get away without incurring this problem?
That was a fun 30 minutes, one hot engine and me leaning over to melt/cut it off. Awful was on so tight it was melted well and proper so it wasn't even square in the tank. New one fitted now from a Renault breakers walking distance from work can't get over that!
I dont have a dremel unfortuantely ,one of those things i guess i should have bought. was thinking of just heating something up and melting through it to break its grip
same here, this isnt a track car just a road car so nothing should be getting THAT hot. Even if it were, hot enough to warp the plastic lid? All I can think is some fluid leaked out for whatever reason, flashed on the manifold and caught fire briefly which melted it to the lid. I cant shift it...
Went to check up brake fluid and I've found my reservoir cap is melted to the tank itself in the corner nearest the manifold? The bottom part of the lid is cured under. Not sure how im going to remove it now short of cutting it off!
Any one else had this issue or know why it occurs?
oops old thread bump here but anyway lol
imagine telling people your car was a metro.
the gti that is with an LSD and 160bhp but never the less still a metro.
however if I cared what people thought of my car I wouldnt drive what I do, Id have some boring soot chucking german thing
Whats the price for one of these? is it at go to renault only for the part I assume?
Mines got stuck at about half on the display even though its full, dont want it failing totally and putting dash lights on (if thats what it will do)
thanks
used this method last time I changed mine, works really well. 5 minutes and its done quite literally.
The insert can become quite stuck however requires a bit of a tug
Liquid yellow 197 f1 by the airport on Saturday night
Big 182 last night by the Barcelo spa resort
Black 172 by the water park near Corralejo
And a dark grey ph1 in red team dynamics with an aftermarket exhaust on the car park of the Barcelo spa resort
that stuff will be fine, comma arent too bad . Me personally id drain it all and add a fresh 3.1 litres or so, i find the some of the bottles have a little filler nozzle in the cap that you can attach to some hose and fill up via the filler plug, just make a hole in the bottle so the air can get...
