I think it's luck of the draw who you speak to at RUK. When mine went at 24000 miles out of warranty, I paid £50 for diagnosis which was returned to me when they did the work. I spoke to a manager at RUK and got 75% towards a new box which left me paying £600. I agree with 'the what happens if...
Yes mate changed the battery's first of as I had read they usually cause the problems. It's due it's 5 yr service next year so ill get them to have a dig into the problem then. Cheers
Used Panasonic battery's assume they are ok. It's only occasional so not bothering me too much yet, if it persists or gets worse then I may have to look into this more.
Hi all, the 200 is very occasionally saying card not detected when I press brake and push the start button. It works fine once the card is in the slot. Should I be concerned about this or just leave it as a renault trait?
Thanks. Merry Xmas btw!!
I had this when my box was replaced. When I originally took It in I had crunching into gears but then after that could not engage any gears. New box was put in and gear changes felt a lot smoother but then occasionally couldn't engage gears still. Took it back and it was a master cylinder fault...
Renault have been good up to now, and RUK brilliant. Just seems now they have got to the point at this renault garage where my car is at and they don't know what's wrong. Basically saying we aren't sure give us £504 for a new drive shaft and it might work...
Thanks guys, at wits end here, not been able to enjoy the potential of this car as much as I had hoped recently. Il get on to them as soon as I'm home from work. Thanks again.
Before the new box was replaced it never made a knocking noise it's just proving that to them. I think they have had enough of fixing it for free an have given up now.
Right folks, I'm back again... Bought a 200 from carshop about 2month back. Box failed had a new one put in paid for by renault. Picked it up still had a knocking noise when at slow speed and shifting gears. Took it back they put a new driveshaft seal on. Picked it up again an it's still doing...
I appreciate what your saying Fred, but telling who I bought the car from that renault has offered to pay 70% of the bill kind of makes it out to be their fault not the dealer really. Still waiting for final bill to be recieved but will contact the dealer that sold me it to try and get something...
Is it in warranty or not? Mines in repair right now with same issues, they advised new box. Ring RUK and try to knock them down as much as poss. I got quoted £1974 but got it down to me paying around £600. Hope you get it sorted mate, I know the feeling well.
The dealer wants renault to fax through the diagnostics result and price left to pay before they will look into it. Lot of f***ing about but I will try to not pay anything.
If anyone's interested renault have offered to knock 70% of a new fully fitted gearbox price. I'm going to end up paying around £600. Better then £1997 like. Now to try n chase up the people that sold me the car to see if I can get anything of them! Cheers for the help everyone!
Was yours out of warranty then? I'd rather not pay anything as would anyone but I could manage £500 if It came too it. I can see not much work being done tomorrow and a lot of ringing about instead...
