I have this all ready to go on my car but have struggled to find an idiot's guide to doing it, step by step (the online user guide doesn't quite cover this IMO), in order to ensure success.
After I'd ordered the product, Henk sent me an updated OEM configuration file and also a 98 RON...
Thanks @RS Charlie
Is the wet grip good enough for winter use on damp/greasy roads? Sounds like they're much better than the original AD08 in this area.
I am very tempted given the dry grip and track performance advantages!!
These two tyres are relatively close in price through Camskill. According to reviews and tyre rating data, the wet performance of the AD08R is supposed to be pretty good too, even compared to the mighty PS3. What sort of tread depth comes with the AD08Rs as standard?
For a car not doing many...
I had the very same experience recently. Same part number but definitely not the correct fitment for the 172/182! All sorted with the genuine items from Renparts and the car is running great!!
A full set of replacement OE injectors and a new pair of fuel rail connector o-rings seems to have done the trick on mine. Started the car 5 or so times cold/hot yesterday with no hesitation (although I kept anticipating it, which was annoying LOL!).
How are you getting on @S.Diesel ?
Sorry about that @182Trophy!! Strangely though, ECP only seem to stock the drivers side part these days, so would need to find another supplier or go genuine Renault on the passenger side. The ATE item I bought literally had the correct Renault part number printed on the wiring cover!
Had this on my Trophy too and it was a rear driver side sensor. I bought the ATE item from ECP for around £60 and this fixed the issue. It even carries the OE part number!!
^^ This is the thread/member I referred to in a post above, thanks for posting.
I fitted some MM IWP042 injectors off eBay recently but have now bought the correct Renault versions from Renparts. As the thread linked above suggests, there are subtle differences. Looking forward to getting them...
Nope, haven't fitted the new o-rings yet but I take your point on the fuel pressures. Coolant temp sensor and crank sensor were both newly fitted genuine items in the past few months.
Tried both methods, no difference.
On cold start, it just fires immediately as it should. On warm start, it turns over several times then sort of limps into life. Weird! The person who had similar symptoms on here replaced his fuel rail connector O-rings and that sorted it apparently.
I have the parts, as well as new injectors to hopefully rectify a cylinder 4 misfire, but haven't had the time to fit them yet. Will report back when I do
I still don't get why my slow start-up issue only happens on warm start!
You can get replacement fuel rail end connectors with the o-rings on from K-Tec. They're pretty cheap too thankfully! Apparently the connector is hard to get off the fuel line, so best just to (carefully!) swap the new o-rings across onto your existing connector. It seemed to work for this other...
Same problem I'm having but only on warm start. Been in touch with a guy on here who had the same issue and it turned out to be perished o-rings on the fuel rail end connector letting air into the rail! I've got replacements, so will be giving that a go next (crank sensor, coolant sensor, MAP...
Think the 172 speed sensor is off the gearbox and the 182 gets it signal off the ABS system? Might be worth looking for the sensor on top of the gearbox on your 172?
The live data I've collected for IAT, CTS, throttle position, MAP etc. on both cold and warm start-up all seems normal based on figures noted in various threads on here. I was concerned that, when the engine was warm, the ECU was not receiving the correct coolant temperature reading and applying...
@Callum church did you manage to fix this issue? What did it turn out to be? Experiencing similar start-up issues myself, although I have already changed the crank sensor for the later blue connector type.
Looking to plan some live data monitoring during both cold and warm start-up in an attempt to see what's going on.
Which sensor readings should I focus on and what sort of readings should I see pre-cranking and at idle? I'm thinking coolant temp, inlet air temp and manifold air pressure are all...
Thanks @RS Charlie - what was the issue with yours in the end?
My friendly Renault mechanic has CLIP, so will be asking him to take a look soon. Also have a friend with RS Tuner, so may be able to get some live figures off that. There are no fault codes stored at present, I know that much.
It's...
So, used the car today and started up three times:
1. 8am from cold and after a few days sat in the garage - started first time and without a fuss. Drove nicely to work, no issues whatsoever.
2. 12.15pm partially warm after 4 or so hrs sat in the car park - reluctant to start, limped into life...
Yep, it was a correctly numbered Bosch item and the emissions light cleared fine after it was replaced.
Per my post above, I think I'll try some different fuel in it next and see if that makes any difference whatsoever.
I'll put this out there, happy to be shot down in flames(!), but is the fact that I switched the car over to VPower 99 Nitro+ soon after purchase something to do with things? The issue has definitely worsened since I put a whole tank of 99 in, as the first tank was mixed with the 95 the previous...
Thanks @krappy. I had my pre-cat (front) O2 sensor replaced a couple of months back when the car threw an emissions warning light. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to change the post-cat sensor too?!
Thanks @optical and @Jack!
When the issue is at its worst, I have to hold the key turned in the barrel for a good 3-4 seconds before ithe engine stumbles into life. A little prod of the accelerator helps slightly but it has always 'caught' on its own. As mentioned above, sometimes the car just...
I've tried switching the three identical relays around, as suggested, but the start-up issues persist. Still hasn't actually failed to start but just takes ages and ages to spring into life and settle to idles....worse when warm.
I've also cleaned the engine earths and checked the starter motor...
