Its not about winning its about your time ;)
When i used to go it was all about trying to beat the personal best.
In the 15's is the usual place for a stock full interior on road tyres Clio Sport.
Unfortunately i never got the part number he had for it but doing a google search on my old number this one pops up along side and the images look similar: 8200053557
Yesterday i stripped the old body apart, cleaned it all up, cut back part of the holder where the spring rubs and PTFE oiled...
Re-asked just to double check and quoted the part number on the body this time, 7700871215, which appears to have been superseded and going by my reg plate again still comes up around £340. If this is right, these were roughly 160 a few years back
I'd be better off with a single Jenvey...
I asked my engeneering place regards to this business of forged pistons only lasting 20k area. He said they should last far more miles than that, quoting car manufacturers who use forged pistons as standard in their engines.
Is it just a choice of the Supertech ones?
Also i have the stock valves cut 3 angles with headwork on my old engine which worked well. Worth getting the new valves cut ?
Nearly forgot, should i fit new valve springs as well or will the old ones be fine?
Would it be stupid not to uprate the valves when doing a rebuild or is uprated only really required for ragging it on the track?
I don't want to lash out over 300 notes if not really required :)
They are et43.
Beware when buying them 2nd hand. They are made out of butter.
I bought some 100% ''straight'' ones from these very pages and two turned out to be the most buckled wheels iv ever experienced!
I seem to remember the original stealth was improved upon a short while after, maybe after the initial batch was sold a good few years ago? Your experience was probably from the 1st batch? Just a thought.
I never bothered with the stretch but did the ARP 3 turn cequence thing and also had the caps very lightly chamfered. Can't remember the torque but its on the forum somewhere and probably the ARP site.
I own a base spec mk4 Escort and a ph1 172.
Yeah the Escort has had its rust issues lol but on the whole its been a far more reliable car than the 172. :o
Far better build quality as well, uses screws not clips on trim which don't break when you remove them unlike the Clio lol Doesn't rattle...
Is this right there are two different compression ratios in high comp form ?
The code number on the box says K9045D130 and googling it, it says these are 12.6:1.
Meek, do you have any more details on the pulley? part numbers or anything?
The head i will be using has a 10 thou skim on it...
In terms of the engineering, how do you achieve the high compression? Is it a combination of decking the block, thinner head gasket and a skim of the head? or just a heavy decking of the block?
Got my block decked / bored and honed etc but the compression ratio measurements are coming in well...
Whats the point in changing to a 225 cog when using a s/charger if it still spins? Its keyway'd thus can't slip independent of the crank, thats the whole point :S
Never timed a Clio but the Ford Zetec engine has a keyway and all i did was put the cambelt round the bottom cog, slacken off the cam pulleys till the belt was in position then lock it up and tighten the bolts. Would imagine the Clio would be the same?
The Meggy 225 benefit is, the cog can't...
I'm meaning the timing belt gear mate, the inner cog which the cambelt goes round. Thats definitely keyway'd on the Meggy 225 cog so can't slip.
The auxiliary pulley, i was led to believe the Clio 172 / 182's where the same as the Megane 225, held by the bolt not key'd?
If the bolt comes loose it can't slip, thats the whole point of keyway. The lug of the cog slots into the crank preventing it ever being able to turn independent of the crank hence why they fit them on charged engines.
Till someone doesn't tighten it properly or it decides to come loose lol Aint going to slip if its running a keyed cog.
I'm going 225 meggy for slightly more peace of mind with this rebuild
Not sure why Renault didn't keyway it. I know Ford Zetecs in 2 litre form are
Should fit diameter but as already mentioned length could be a issue.
Just custom make one. There's a decent company on ebay who sells all the Ash silicone products.
