Love the number plate being bolted to the backbox, Genius.
You got a thread anywhere for that build at all? Would like to just see the work involved in making it RWD and cutting the floor out, cool stuff.
I know such an awesome engine, and so bloody cheap you don't have to worry about a rebuild essentially, anything bad happens, bend a rod etc just put a new lump in.
Shame Saab have gone really.
They are also very very wide at the back, you'd need some custom monster flared arches just to get that to work, Hub adapters can be had to solves the bolt issue though.
Sorry yes, like I said. I don't mean specifically the same engine although I did say that, just mean as it's so easy to change it just seems the logical choice to me to use this engine, plus with the loom issue being an easy fix it's a no brainer.............. for me anyway best car I ever owned...
Sorry Chip I was actually basing this on Conversions from the C20 and X20's ( MK3's ) rather than the Z20's that was my reasons beyond the whole thing which to be honest is a bit before the time of the Mk4 Astra as we know, guess I'm making stupid irrelevant points again, still ime the X20 parts...
It's quite odd tbh, I thought the way to go with these engine was to use Saab Turbo parts, same block and fitment apparently but internals are already forged, Common thing on MK3OC a guy sells a plug and play loom to do a straight engine swap with a 93 Turbo lump good enough for stupid power...
depends on the Color, different colors and finishes are different costs by a long way, if an OEM Color it's not too bad, around 1.5K for a decent non bodger job, if the paint is a peal / flip / metalflake, Chromaflair then it can go to double that.
Seats are sided mate so it wont work, probably just been forced forward to far and come off the rail somehow, give it some stick and it should go back.
It was the most expensive color also, I never sold any LY's back then, never even saw one until I came on here. Sold 2 Vee's to one person though, for her two twin 18yrs old Sons Bdays lucky f***s.
Progbably not, the car has one anyway and it doesn't increase anything power wise, just makes more noise and reduces lag ever so slightly. maybe call them to declare but I'd be amazed if they charged for it.
6K I wouldn't bother with a 197 regardless of trim level, much more out there which is quicker for 6K and cheaper to life with imo, Lexus Soarer 2.5TT or a 300ZX TT for the Saxo Slayer.
Oh right I see, I remember this coming up a while ago when you say that, same way pops and bangs crap doesn't affect it as under 4k. I will stay out now.
I just thought it made it run better as a whole, Surely better economy means more efficient fueling and thus cleaner emissions? although probably being a r****d here as I do have no idea how these things actually work
Changed plugs and leads prior to this? just to get it burning as clean as possible, I reckon an RStuner would help a lot, makes it run so much cleaner, my emissions were really good last time ( everything else was fucked though )
