Hybrid HKS twins with steel blades. 490bhp is pushing it a bit on those and they do get a bit hot but the engines are bulletproof. I think the boost might have to drop a bit though just to make sure i dont crack a blade.
There is only a smallish system in this car. Theres a DEI 1100d and a...
Bonkers - Yeah i remember you on there. Chilled Cruising was a great site. Its a shame it went pear shaped. I still have my T-Shirt from a show we went to once with our usernames on the back...lol
Vibe stuff isn't bad actually when you get to the higher end. I wouldn't like to do a full install in it personally as there are better value products out there.
DD's can do streetbass but they have a particular sound which is an aquired taste. For a musical install i find them a bit harsh...
Hi
What do you mean by is it the black one?
I agree DD subs are great for SPL. They dont like playing low enough for streetbass in my opinion though. Not what i would call streetbass anyway (less than 25Hz) My Orions are tuned to 36Hz but drop really well due to the massive excursion levels...
Jack - I must say, it did sound very nice with the XXX's but they are more of an SQL woofer. I like the brutalness of the HCCA's in the right enclosure they really pound..lol I'm into streetbass than SPL or SQ to be honest.
Daz - The car has been upgraded a lot since then. It has a wall...
I've been into ICE for years. Its just the whole feeling of bass. nothing about being looked at or anything like that. There is nothing like being surrounded by pure battering bass in my book. I guess its an aquired taste. Its also the tweaking and tuning you can do to make things better (the...
Jack - I used to run XXX 15's running but now i'm using Orion HCCA 15's. The XXX's were being fed about 2kw each but with 4kw per sub i had to upgrade. The HCCA's will take that kind of abuse on a clean signal all day long. They are also more like 17" subs than 15's cone area wise. I'm in the...
I built the system to an over engineered spec really. The MDF wall is the entire back of the car and fixed to it directly. It is over 100mm thick in places and braced with steel rod etc. The car with the old system (3 RE XXX 15's) hit 153db on the termlab with a genuine 6kw and when the Orion...
wow. someone that actually likes it...thanks zorganator...lol
I dont see the point of taking offence to criticism. You can't please everyone. If i went crazy then i'd never get any help which is what i'm after really. :)
The car is 2 tonnes due to the Audio system. The 7 massive batteries in...
If it helps my reputation in these parts i also have a Supra Mk4 twin turbo running around 490bhp. You may not like the look of that either though.
Does anybody have any info on these engines. wiring from the volvo lump to the car would be most helpful.
Cheers
Hi.
The engine was running fine in the old clio (1.8 RSI) The engine and gearbox were bolted into the car by Hill Power. I have all the wiring loom and ECU's etc. All pipework is available. The FMIC is in place but no boost pipes as yet but some are available. It needs the wiring loom and...
lol...its taken 3 grand worth of airbag suspension and strengthening by Rayvern Hydraulics just to cope with the weight as i kept snapping shocks. The rear shocks now go like \ instead of the standard / direction to spread the weight better.
I dont believe the wheels are available now. They are Raceline RL-7's custom machined and painted in isuzu brass, I can understand why some dont like it...or should i say most but it is my baby still..lol
Any ideas if anybody here could give some pointers on the engine conversion?
it doesn't really matteron the power front. The conversion has basically been done as the alternator is in a good place on these engines for a dual setup which i need to power the sub amps. I think with the ECU mods 160-180 is easy enough. That would be fine to be honest
i started it when i was 19 and am nearly 30 now...so a fair while
I know styles have changed a lot in that time and it is going for some work in the bodyshop to bring it up to date once the engine is running
Hi
I've had my Clio 1.4RT for about 10 years now. Due to other commitments it hasn't been out of the garage for 3 years but now its time to finish it off and get showing again.
Below is a link to some pics and vids of the car as she stands...
hi. sorry i think you may have misread. I know it can be done as it was in a clio i bought with the conversion already done. I'm looking for someone to take the job on to get it running in my car.
Hi
Does anyone know anyone that has done a 1.7 Volvo turbo engine conversion into a Clio or even if someone here would like to earn themselves some extra cash to do the job on mine. It was originally a 1.4RT which is being sorted for next years show season.
I have the engine in place in my...
ahh right so the RSi's have beefier driveshafts so it would be better to use them.
Will the 1.4 box fit onto the volvo lump cos i'm sure i read somewhere that the housing wont allow it or something.
This is actually for a volvo 480 turbo conversion. I figured rather than buying a whole RSi. If the 1.4 gearbox bolts onto the RSi then it must bolt onto the volvo engine as its basically the same (i'm told). I can buy the other engine mount if required and the wiring loom off the RSi i'm...
Hi
I've just bought a Volvo 480 engine for my Clio mk1. I can get hold of some parts from a Clio RSi but I dont know which parts i need.
I've been told i need a wiring loom but what else (driveshafts, gearbox???):
if anyone knows and can make a list for me that would be great
cheers
