    Possible Misfire?

just to close this off, took a second look at this and it turns out the end of one ht lead was cracked and another had decided to leave its rubber end (oo-er) around the spark plug so it probably didnt provide a proper seal. Just changed the coilpack and leads (they are combined) and it seems to...

    Possible Misfire?

leads are all on in the right order (they're numbered), nothing is trapped as far as i can see? could a dodgy seal on the inlet manifold cause this?

    Possible Misfire?

I need help with my 1.2, i recently replaced the rocket cover gasket as it was leaking oil over the exhaust and generally stinking up the place. Whilst i had it apart i also cleaned the throttle body and removed the pool of oil that collects in the inlet manifold on these d4f engines. after ive...

    Clutch replacement on Clio 1.2

It's possible to do the 1.2 clutch without dropping the subframe, by supporting the engine and moving it as far over as possible and then moving the gearbox the other way, then using "clutch alignment fluid" on the clutch and slipping it in the gap, there's just enough room. It's not for the...

Mystery knocking noise from N/S/F of car

I had a weird knock on my 1.2 for ages, it started doing it on a long journey and then would do it randomly, some days it'd be fine some days it'd knock, funnily when i jacked the car up to look for it, it would stop for a few days haha.. turned out to be my NSF wheel bearing, there was no...

    front suspension installation. normal?

I'd just push it down and put the bolts in then really, shouldn't be too hard to line up? as long as it all bolts together i'd say it was good. Be careful not to put tiny holes in the driveshaft gaiter if its touching the strut ive done that before haha

    front suspension installation. normal?

are both wheels off the ground? if not you'll be fighting the arb to line it up.

What have you done to your car today ???

Passed its MOT yesterday with no advisories, Tester even commented on how well maintained it is mechanically so pretty chuffed with that! Also had the wheel alignment done after changing the tie rods etc, car feels like a brand new car now, previously it was skittish and the steering was notchy...

What have you done to your car today ???

Yeah it wasn't really difficult, the nearside inner rod was on solid so took some swearing to get off but apart from that it was easy. I did the inners with a 32mm fan spanner not a proper tool, just moved the steering back and two to get better access, although mines a 1.2 so don't know how...

    Car Battery Drain

Ok so i investigated a bit more today, the drain today was 80ma when i first tested it, i then turned the ignition on and then off, the drain changed to 130ma and stayed like this for over 30mins (thats how long i could be bothered to wait to see if it changed) If i remove F21 (5A fuse) from...

What have you done to your car today ???

Changed the leaking thermostat, expansion bottle and coolant. Also remembered that I hate the spring clips on the hoses, getting the radiator bottom hose back on was a right kerfuffle! Must buy a proper tool to remove them next time! Anyway can you spot the difference?

    Car Battery Drain

Thanks for the help, im going to have another look at it tomorrow to see if i can narrow down which circuit is causing the drain as the 5A fuse is part of the central locking, diagnostic connector, multitimer and instrument panel circuits, all of which work but there must be something wrong with...

    Car Battery Drain

Sorry for thread revival but im having the same problem, the drain drops when i remove the 5A fuse, im guessing that circuit will have some drain as its part of the central locking and immobiliser but mine is currently 90mA on that circuit alone? Total drain is 130ma, is that enough to drain...

What have you done to your car today ???

Stuck a new clutch in it after it decided to leave me stranded by the side of the road last week! Easier job than i thought just time consuming, also chucked a new aux belt on it as the other one looked tired. Clutch feels really light and smooth now, totally different to how heavy it was...

After fitting an LED festoon bulb into my interior boot light the car thinks the boot door is constantly open, anyone ever run into this problem before? Ive read loads of topics on this and used 2 types of LED bulbs from links given on here and they all throw up the "door open" light on the...

    182 misty windows

I've filled a sock (clean one not mouldy) with cat litter and tied the end, stuck it under the passenger seat, seemed to keep my Windows mist free all last year, I've just refilled it intact! Might be worth a go?

What have you done to your car today ???

Replaced both driveshafts and gearbox oil to try and cure a thumping sound when driving straight or round right hand bends which i guessed might of been the CV joint that had been leaking for a while.... It wasnt, back to the drawing board...
