Ah see im on a gap between the end of sixth form and beginning of work on the 30th, so keep finding myself in the kitchen not dressed or showered eating cornflakes while sanding trim over the sink at half 11 ;) still it doesn't take too long, just drying times that takes ages! :(
Do it yourself, I'm doing mine now and it's all going quite well, all smoothed and primered and im very pleased! Alot of effort but looks good in my opinion :)
August :( first ever proper pay day! Until then gunna go at it with the G3 and a microfibre and see if it makes any difference at all, if not might look for a detailer or a member on here who wants to do it for a drink or two ;)
Haha sorry should have been clearer, I washed it in the morning before taking it to get machine polished, then after he'd finished I took it home and cleaned it all off as it was slightly dusty and there was some polish left in panel gaps etc, and then used egp to protect the paint, then a bird...
Don't worry I am a noobie, ill happily admit I'm a noobie with detailing but keen to learn and get more experience :) what's annoyed me is you can still see the sanding marks slightly in the right light, and you can see swirls... do you think I could take it back and say look you can still see...
ECP Tunbridge Wells is excellent, always recommending me ways to get cheaper prices (keep telling me to reserve online as it's cheaper on there so they can offer me that price that way!), always got the parts I need in stock, and ordered some paint from ECP today, paid for the cheapest delivery...
Yeah think he must have thought that really, but for 25 quid which was half his quote I just thought "it's reasonable im skint having just bought HID let's just go!
Knuckles Jaff. Yeah I see defects everywhere already! I'm already getting pissed off at it to be honest, always been like this though used to help my dad snag the houses he builds in the summer holidays when I was at school, means I always walked away spotting everything wrong everywhere! You do...
Didn't really think and thought it was 2500 :o I think im a detailing type of person, never happy unless my cars immaculate inside and out! Always cleaning polishing and hoovering it to try and remove scratches etc just tried something too far in the pursuit of a perfect bonnet! Ever since I...
I suppose yeah, need help with the shopping list sometime though, all I know is alot of people seem to use Farcela G3 which I already have a bottle of!
Yeah see the pretty much how the panel I did looked, but tbh it was more a "have a go for a bit while I go get other compounds" then he just took it off me and got back to my bonnet. To be honest though I don't think he is very good at polishing, either that or he had me down for a "yes my...
Tbh always wanted a rotary as never really read up on DAs and heard rotary could remove more, plus I've seen one being used properly in person and thought wow! But now I've actually had a go at one I've started looking at DA's, I know they have at different orbit so don't just go round which...
If he said they can be polished out I'd give it a go with a good cutting polish, I'm sure others can recommend alternatives but I've only really ever used Farcela G3 and I'm very happy with it, seems to fairly easily be able to remove any bird dirt or scratch from my car as long as it's not too...
I mentioned a good drying towel ;) the best one I've found is a £3 Kent car care one on amazon, they're the most absorbant towel ever if you ask me, cleaned my clio and dried it three times, and washed my mums nissan micra yesterday with the same towel, just ringing it out between washes.
Awkward really, sort of expected to be running the rotary around the panel for a while then clean the panel and it'd be swirl free and perfect, but if anything it was more swirled. Not sure if I had the right combination though of pads and compounds because tbh my bonnet isn't swirl free, just...
No idea then, they've sent me another bulb to try so will fit that tomorrow probably and see if theres any difference, they keep telling me to buy these extra load resistors which apparently stop them flickering.
Hi,
So my car is Monaco blue, the colour code is NV432. Which colour primer should I use when colour coding to get the best match?
Also where is the best place to get paint for a good colour match?
Thanks
Well, if you get bored i'd love mine to look like that ;) Haha, looks stunning though! Makes me even more keen to start machine polishing mine. Asking for a rotary for my 18th birthday (August 14th :)) and can't wait having seen yours, the paint looks so shiny and clean!
Remind me never to get...
Truly stunning! Same colour as my Mk3 but yours looks so much more perfect and mirror finish. Do you machine polish it? How did you get it that smooth and perfect!
Don't really know the while story but I know there's alot of annoying people on eBay, about the fees though if you do an unpaid item dispute, it's only a few days and they refund all your fees and give you a free re listing. Good luck with your next sale.
Got some major scratches removed from the bonnet including some awful sanding marks. See my thread in the detailing section for pics "to polish or replace" will put pics on here later :)
