Never easy buying a car thats far away.
Tbh, if/when i buy another car it will be off here.
If its ever had any problems and the owner has asked on here you will be able to check via previous threads/posts!
Paragraphs ftw
Seriously though, the mis fire will definatley be one of these >
HT Leads
Coil Pack
Spark Plugs
And at very best failure of an injector which is less likley.
You get what you pay for and all that etc
The fact a cambelt might need done doesnt exactly inspire confidence!
Anyone with any car maintenance sense should have it done if/and when needed!
To use it as a bargaining tool fair enough, but i know id rather be bargaining with cosmetic damage than an impending cambelt change?
Seen this on Ph seems like a very honest example.
tbh though £3400 is 2007 money for mint examples, if the imperfections on the body work were recitified id say its at best worth £3200
Best of luck with the sale though
The cambelt scenario isnt so much of a problem as you would imagine as people were prety naive about it for the first one so they have only been done in 2007/8 thus meaning it wont need done for a further 72k/5 years.
A bloody big gamble but in saying so...!
Maybe somthing pre 1990 yeah but like you say times have changed.
Theres a few boys on here with cars well up and above 100k, i wouldnt think twice about it if the price was right!
???
My old Phase 1 got 389 miles to a full tank.
Thats between 39-42 mpg, considering its the same F4R engine albeit with subtle differences would suggest he either drove it like it was stolen or it was fucked
Like you said, if service is religious id have absolutley no qualms about buying a 100k car
Tbh, 100k on a 8-9 year old car is average, there is no real reason why it shouldnt do another 100k
If it were 10k for a hot hatch it would be a Mk1 Focus RS all day everyday
Residual values are very strong and will remain so if kept well,15k for a Clio im sorry is utter lunacy (as much as i love them)
imo ofcourse
THe fuel consumption ultimatley puts me right off the 197
If it was quicker to the ton and faster to 60 then fair enough but the reality is that whilst it might be better built/better car it is no faster than a 2001 Phase 1 172 and thats proven time and time again.
Less fuel consumption and...
