I would honestly not dabble with nitro.
Just take them to a wheel specialist, the problem begins with not taking the tyre off the rim. Moisture gets under the paint, bubbles the paint, you need to start again...
Go for it mate, aye its a marmite colour but trust me, O*Z f1's look superb on them ;)
If you know where to look, you will find one you really want.
Also, if its a few miles out of reach it might be worth while to ask a member local to it to check it out, the opinion of someone not buying...

I really wouldnt, it could be the start of somthing majorly serious.
Buy a mint one thats been cherished, dont let miles put you off, they get better with more, however, maintenance is an absolute must.
If hes admitting to the engine tapping, what else could be wrong?
