Doe,s anyone know where you can get smaller shells from. Renault only make standard size shells for clio 172 48mm doe's anyone know a supplyer for smaller 47.5-47.75mm
Got the engine all back together and in car . Took 0.7mm of block and we now have 205 psi across all 4 cylinders, well chuffed:cool: , will get on rollers to see if we have inproved power in a week or so.
I've bought some Compertition conrods and have found that they are 0.4mm shorter than standard 172 conrods. I put it all together (because I had no time to relocate other's) and checked compression, which was 165 psi across all four cylinders, after inital run down the road have found that it is...
No I yous'd the 172 fuel rail and made brackets to fit . the two bodie's needed seperating by 4mm which was packed with washers.
Picture's I tried to put some up but didn't work ,If you can pm me an e-mail address and I'll send them to you tomorrow
I've done it to mine. throttle bodie's were of a honda blackbird (42mm) trumpets were jenvey made the manifold by choping a standard manifold then welded 4 x42mm tube's and then honed it to shape. I have a link engine management. Power gains , my head had already had porting done and we also had...
taking to people I was told the cranks are very strong and with the conrods being 20% lighter I should be able to rev upto 8 3/4
My thoughts were to change gear at 81/4 and rev limit at 81/2 (if the power figures on the rollers work out) any thoughts do you think it would last ok
With me standard conrod stud letting go on my last rally (with hitting the wrong gear) I have bought some k-tech racing conrods and also doing the obvious things like ballencing the crankshaft etc. so the question is what will she rev two now :approve:
I do and thats me problem some hair pins and chicains are down to about 20mph and I run a sadev dog box which has a long 1st gear, so hense I need a good low to high torque curve
starting at the front 42mm throttle bodies with jenvey trumpets and filters, ported head exhaust and inlet matched to valve size, standard 4 into 1 exhaust clio cup racing exhaust system with no cat full programable ecu .
on another note does anyone know the camshaft timings are ( at what degrees...
I had taken the seats and clearance into account. I was hoping someone on here may of done one and could tell me if they had seen any advantage. I will see my machine man this week and let you know if we do it or not ;)
Sorry should of explained better. The head has been ported and I run the car on 42mm throttle bodies. one of the reasons bigger valve's are the way I want to go is so that I acheive more low down torque. Ben have you ever tryed larger valve's in the 172 engine ?
After putting a leg out of bed on my clio, I have the engine in total bits, and I was wondering if anyone had put larger inlet valves in to there heads , and weather you would share you wisdom.:)
Have bin reading about your power figures and I thought I would tell you mine I have a 172 exhaust manifold no cat 42mm throttle bodies with jenvey ram pipes and programable Link ecu. my car on the day would only rev to 7200, but the figures are as so 166 torque ft at 6800 and 170 bhp at the...
I was wanting to know if anyone could piont me in the right directions
I have a clio172 gearbox that I got built for rallying. It has a 4.8 (standard 4.0) final drive ratio an Avanti lsd and a close ratio 5th gear (125 mph 7500 rpm). I was going to fit this in to my pocket rocket rally car...
