Had it on mine and was expecting it to have the annoying beeping noise when I put the harnesses in and ditched the old belts. Strangely it never came back after removing the factory belts. So I'd say it can be got rid of, as to what you need to disconnect I wouldn't know. If I had to guess...

There's no logical reason that I can think of for putting a V8 in a 911, however I don't believe that means is shouldn't be done.
