Well I just checked the applications for that belt and CT977K2 is the correct kit.
the cheapest I can find it elsewhere is buypartsby, which is £61 plus delivery, so that is a very good price.
Here is the link.

I was aware of the need to use proper tools, and was going to buy some. I can soon...
I was going to do it myself.
I know it isn't as easy as many cars, but I have done loads of belts in the past. Some of which were pretty complicated. (Alfa V6 24V springs to mind)
Just out of interest, does it look like this cambelt kit will fit my 172 Cup?
The listing states that it does, but I wanted to check as it looks rather cheap.
Does everything look to be there as well?
Many Thanks.
I have found on other makes of car that crank sensors often fail with age and produce a poor output signal.
They are basically a coil of wire and the heat cycles of the engine causes the wiring to break down and the resistance go up. Often this can be seen by measuring across the pins on the...
Thanks for the help. I will have a think about it, do some maths and get the car up in the air at the weekend to rule out anything obvious like a drive shaft issue.
I can live with the leaking cam cover and rattling dephaser for the time being, but when winter arrives again and the smell of oil...
I can imagine the bills will be quite high.
The Dephaser is rattling, the cam cover is leaking oil onto the exhaust, so it will need a full belt change. Despite it only having been done about a year ago.
That is on top of probably a reconditioned gearbox and a new clutch. So i reckon on an easy...
I think the biggest part of the rubber is facing up to the car on the small end.
It was fitted the same way that the old one came off.
I am pretty sure that isn't the cause, that wouldn't cause slip in the drivetrain would it?
Due to the other issues with the car I am tempted to sell it as...
I have replaced the mounts for new, standard ones. The Dogbone was a genuine.
It makes this noise every time if you accelerage morte than moderately hard and it is getting worse.
I am tempted to get the car up in the air at the weekend and have a look to check the driveshafts.
On one of my...
The trader was on Deer park, it was a she not a he.
I did pay with Paypal gift, but I had looked at and driven the car befored as you do, and I don't consider it much different to paying cash.
The noise is definitely getting worse, There is a definite noisy slipping there, and the car seems to...
I paid the trader by Paypal gift, as it was easier than going to the bank to pay cash.
They only live around the corner from me, so it would be easy for me to pay a visit.
They currently still have other cars for sale on ebay as well...
I am pretty sure I will find out what is wrong soon if I...
I am not sure, I put a post up asking about RS friendly garages, but it was moved to the pay members area where I cannot see it. At this rate I won't be keeping the car long enough to justify joining as a paid member.
No, the car was bought in Witney and the previous owner was in Hastings IIRC.
I have just changed all of the engine mounts by the way, and it has made no difference.
I will get the box out and have it fixed if necessary, but as I use the car for work it is going to cause me problems.
The car...
My problems with this car continue.
On the way back from work today, I had to give the car some beans to overtake a slow arse.
When doing so i noticed a banging noise from under the car as I was accelerating. Also I felt like there was some slip in the transmission.
I am pretty sure...
It could be the heater part of one of the lambda sensors, during idling it may not be getting hot enough to work. As the car is otherwise running oK I would guess it would be the post cat one.
Buy a cheap code reader, it will save a lot of guessing.
I have one of these, and it worked to diagnose my lambda fult when mu U480 scanner failed to read the codes.

You will need an android phone...
I have just ordered a new crank sensor. I didn't realise that they were so cheap, so for what they cost it is worth eliminating it from the equation.
I don't think the battery is the issue, as it cranks very wel, and there is no problem with the trip computer resetting.
Crank sensor could be the cause I suppose, is there any way to test the one on the clio?
I know on some cars you can measure the resistance with a multimeter as over time...
I have searched the threads and I ahven't managed to find a problem the same as mine.
Car is a Ph2 Cup 172
The car will crank but fail to fire on some occasions.
The problem seems to be when the engine is ever so slightly warm, say if the car has been driven up to temperature and then left for...
My car came fitted with a K-Tec Stealth, with middle and centre silencer.
To be honest it is too loud for me, cruising in the car gives me a headache and I don't like the sound.
I am going to be controversial here, and say that 4 cylinder inline engines rarely sound great no matter what exhaust...
I think they are more trouble than they are worth. I am not keen on the induction noise personally, and your insurance will need to be notified as well.
If you have a slight misfire it might be worth checking/changing the plugs. You should also be able to tell from the colour of them what sort of condition the engine is in.
If the cat is knackered and you want to stay legal you will need a new or good secondhand one. The misfire may have been...
I had this issue on my cup.
I replaced the belt but after a few days it started to chirp again at startup. I tightened it slightly again and it is now silent. The belt needs to be pretty tight...
On a car with a tensioner I would be suspicious that the spring in the tension had gone weak.
I just picked up a post-cat lambda sensor with the correct plug for £24 from ebay and it works fine.
If it was the pre cat one I would probably have gone genuine Bosch as that one controls the fuel mixture going into the engine.
The Post Cat one only monitors the performance of the cat from...
I had Rainsport 3's on my Golf and the grip in the wet was incredible. But the rubber was seriously soft and they made the car roly poly in the dry.
Once they were nearly worn out (Only 7000 miles) they were much better in the dry, especially with the pressures raised a bit.
