    New alternator + fitting cost

Some things are crazy priced, like the exhaust spring gasket kit to name but one but got to say 250 for the mentioned aint too bad all in all. Yeah agree on the DIY thing. Saved hundreds doing that myself plus the handy trade cards ;)

    Pot Holes!

DONT !! Take photo evidence first. They'll just come along and fill the thing in then your shafted. Lots of info on the net about the correct way to go about it.

    50mpg from my 182!

They do, 38mpg. Of course average is just that plus tuning, a well worn in engine and well serviced will all have a effect

    50mpg from my 182!

My top record is also 54 mpg at 60mph exactly the same as someone previously posted on a fairly modded N/A engine (cams, inlets, head work, etc etc) Returned a average of 43mpg sitting at a pretty constant 80 mph last night on the private runway.

    Belts??

Looks like your due a change as id doubt thats been done previous and no real way of finding out without checking with the last owner unless you have history with the car?

    Pot Holes!

Spin the wheel round. If its bent get a camera and ruler and get straight back down to the pot hole site and put a claim in ;)

    172 Handling a bit odd

Worn rear axle bushes or cracked rear spring is another couple.

    New alternator + fitting cost

All you need to know is it will be roughly 250 quid ;) (check 1st) You dont get charged if they take longer, dosent work like that as its Renault recommended time scale.

    Decat blowing

Cat to centre section should seal very easy. Metal gasket is usually fine without any sealing needed. Cat to manifold / mesh ring is a different kettle of fish. I'd be tempted to slacken the centre section off, possible this aint sitting right and throwing the whole system out?

BAD kangarooing in the morning - First time

Possibly the map sensor, duff or loose wire. Coil pack area could be another. Have a go at wiggling a few wires, see if theres any loose ones. Clean the connectors too :)

BAD kangarooing in the morning - First time

Sounds like your car needs mapping in your case. I always used to blame the cold weather when mine was a little jumpy but never been a issue since getting the map tweeked a 2nd time which ironed out all the lean parts.

    £210 for an engine cover???

    Are these Ktec's supplier?

    gear box oil

Renault dont sell it as in tubs because they buy it in bulk. This comes highly recommended to use on here. If you havent got a Halfords trade card Opie oils sell it for about 7.50 per 1 litre, you'll need 3 litres (3.1 to be exact)...
  19. A

    inlet manifold

Yes because even though the RS stamped casting is better usually, its still not machined up to the gasket size which is what they do when after market porting.

    Recall

I now do my own work on the car bar the pulley areas so iv nowt to gain from saying that, only stating the facts of why they do it ;) - its just standard Renault protocal Its not ethical to wait till a part breaks or wears out before replacing. A lot can happen in 12 months on a car and they...

    KTR Stealth Systems, Phase 1...

Im guessing your compaing Yozza road system vs Ktec stealth when you say this? Slighly unfair comparison as leaving aside the versus noise the Yozza road has a smaller bore back box i belive so it ''might'' be quieter but you'll lose power for it. For a like for like 2.5 comparison you'd...

    Recall

Ah, i used to think like this untill i asked the mechanic what the crack was and he said ''pads and disks might be ok now but not by the time the next service is due'' In other words they like to replace things in advance not when the item is actually fooked
  23. A

    inlet manifold

The inlets are interchangeable between all models (172 - 182) . Two different kinds, normal and RS. The RS stamped up one found on the 172 Cup is said to be a better cast (slightly larger ports), the stock one found on the rest can be a bit hit or miss cast wise.

    Sh*t Renault jacks

Its not going to fall off as long as your woods thick and wide enough. I use a square piece of ply which has done the job fine for 8 years. Using the trolley jack 'bare' cuts into the jacking point sills

    Noise from rear wheels

Certainly on mk1's it is. Not so sure about the mk2's / 3's..

Oil+Filter change before 36k service - worth it?

Wait till after the service. Mine used to leave me a filter and new washer plug on the front seat for free

    Phase 1 172 v Phase 2 Cup

The wheel offset was the main component change and no it wasnt 5mm spacers although you do that to a ph1 and you'll improve the handling ten fold! The rest was simply tweeking here and there. Bugger all advantage bolting on some Cup shocks to a ph1 over replacment items.

are the inlet and plenum the same?

All bolts straight up with no modding needed (ph2 plenum /ph1 TB) Mine did anyway
