No offence to your GF, but if she thinks a 1.4 Corsa was faster, then she probably doesn't know how to get the power out of it properly. As said, they don't really come alive until 5k.

To answer the question, yes on the lcd display on the top of the dash their is a yellow filter you need to sand down.
Only reason I sold my 1.2 is because 172 insurance finally became affordable. Would never have sold it otherwise, was still loads more ideas I had for that car. Wouldn't have bothered with the coilies if I'd have known I was getting rid of it so soon after.
If you put the wings on, you'll need skirts and the front bumper aswell or it'll look daft. I wouldn't bother personally, 195 isn't a great increase on standard so I wouldn't worry about it.
