Yes, it can be done. Anything within reason can be done with enough time and money. Only really worthwhile doing if you have the knowledge/skill to do it yourself. If you're paying someone else to do it you'll end up paying a load of cash which won't give you anywhere near the same result as...
My mate is building a Nova with a Redtop on ITBs dropped into it. Doing it properly though, virtually rebuilding most of the car, even replaced the inner wings slam panel etc. Should be a rapid wee motor when finished.
It happens with the leather 197 wheel too, couple of people on here have it happening to theirs. It's due to the Renault using some cheap crap "leather".
It doesn't need to be full on Rat just to have a rusty bonnet. I've seen a few VWs with a single panel completely rusted with the rest of the car totally mint. Looks quite cool IMO.
I've got loads of these up the loft, have ones from all round the world used to bring 3 or 4 back everytime we went on holiday lol Have a few of the F&F ones with the working neons aswell.

Don't use smart repair companies. Take it to a proper bodyshop to get done. If you're really worried about the colour not matching you'll have to get the door painted to the blend the colour aswell.
