Don't use stripper, doesn't matter how crappy the finish is underneath just sand it till your happy with how smooth it is then re-paint over the top of it.
You misunderstand me. I don't mean he should GTFO this site because of the way his car looks, like you say it's for all Clio owners, I mean not a lot of people on here will appreciate that style of modifying.

As for the engine mods, nobody really does serious engine mods for the 1.2s because they're a waste of cash and time as they make sod all difference.
If you've tried taking the bolts out the bonnet and moving it about then re-bolting, and it's still not sitting properly, then something is bent somewhere. Probably either the brackets or the slam panel.
Sure you haven't switched it off by mistake? Sit with your car turned off, turn the sidelights on then off twice and you'll hear a beep, then start the car again and see if they work.
