a sign if the timing sensor is buggered, is when you turn the key in the ignition, not starting it, but turn it to just before you start it, the needle on the speedo should jump up a little bit, only like 2mm, if it does that it might be ok, if it doesnt it might be worth changing it

do not, under any circumstances, put Castrol Magnatec in your valver, it will make it very noisy and its very very well known to do that on here
5W-40 fully synthetic is what i would recommend unless its mega high mileage

ive had that exact same problem and ive changed the coolant temp sensor 3 times now and i still get it, not at the moment touch wood but it happens, maybe the wiring on mine is faulty somehow ?
as above, when i had a sub in my last car, i used to turn it down as soon as i came off the motorway, then some more as i got nearer my house, turned it off completely a few roads before mine, makes sense mate
