I used to sell Diamond Brite and I know that we paid just less than £40 per kit, and sold the whole system for around £250. Daylight robbery! It isn't even like it is difficult to apply, just like a normal sealant and wax system that you leave to cure for a while.
Cheers for that guys.
Apparently Permaguard is pretty good (compared to Diamond Brite and Superguard anyway) but I can't see any product lasting 5 years anyway, especially if you are presumably washing every other week or something. Even if the paint is protected from UV rays etc, this...
Just doing some research at work and came across this:
http://www.5starshine.com/spo.html
Anyone heard of it before?
Also, has anyone heard of a product called "Seal & Protect" by CarPlan (and used?) It is the same name as our product so a little unsure how no one found this out before...
I know can't get over it. Even his cropping is amazing! Very impressive. The texture and tone of the skin is amazing too... even after 30 seconds I think "that looks pretty good" then he spends 4.30 minutes fine tuning!
The damage is permanent I am afraid. Like Lust says, best to keep a cloth and some QD in your boot so you can wipe it off before it has time to damage. The black bird lime you get seems to bond like concrete to paint, even if you tackle it immediately. Horrible stuff!
Try a machine polish...
Has anyone seen that video on You Tube of that guy drawing Thom Yorke?! Absolutely amazing.

Check him out.
CG New Look Trim Gel is liable to running if you don't buff off well. Also prone to stickiness unless you thoroughly wipe down. Looks good in the summer though and protects seals well.
Yeh buff any vinyl dressings, wait ten minutes or so after applying. It should produce a better surface finish if you buff it off compared to leaving it. You can build up a few layers this way.
Never used this product myself though I am afraid, I was under the impression is was designed for...
Glad someone else has followed the WG/ 476 route... really does work wonders.
Never used the Powerwash stuff myself, but have heard a lot of positive reviews. I just find it hard trusting a brand known for cleaning dishes, but there is a multi-billion pound company behind that so I am sure...
I think I prefer the factory look to be honest, but each to their own!
Always a bit dubious about painting parts of my car myself though, especially when it comes to resale. I am a big fan of red brake callipers on black cars though, but would prefer real Brembos than me painting mine!
What have you been using on them? Try something like this:
Chemical Guys Blue Rim and Wheel Cleaner 16oz - from Clean and Shiny. Get a decent wheel brush too, as sponges aren't great on baked on stuff. Leave it to soak on for a few minutes, then agitate using the brush. Repeat as necessary...
I am quite tempted to keep my car and, assuming I become a millionare in the next few years (quite hard as going back to uni next year...) completely gut the seats, fit it with some recaros, and have a total respray in either crystal black (VW black as used on the GTi) or the black Porsche use...
I hate the 5 door 1 Series, even the 130i isn't great looking, but the 3 door and Coupe are stunning things. I am quite surprised you don't like BMW though,we make some great looking cars. 3 Series Coupe... 3 Series Convertible... new 5 Series... 6 Series... new X5, and also a few new ones on...
Have you seen the new 135 Copue though?! Would probably go for that over the new M3. We have a 130 3 door sport in metallic white at the moment in the press lane and it looks stunning.
GTi in white looks fantastic though, and also cheaper. Would still always go for the roundel though if I can...
Yeh pretty rubbish really. As I said in a previous post, hopefully by the time I want my next car I can afford a new Audi TT 2.0T or either a 130 Sport 3 door or Coupe, or even a Golf GTI. I know the Meg sport is very capable but just doesn't appeal to me like the Clio. I guess once they bring...
Yeh I know... it was due a Spring polish and full works though so am prepared for the worst. As long as they don't wash it!
I have managed to get a 50% discount from Renault as a goodwill discount from Renault towards my exhaust. It is apparently a known problem on 172s (and 182s?) with the...
Cool will pick up some next time I make an order. I WILL get some photos of mine up soon, without getting ahead of myself, I think mine must be a contender for cleanest 172 in the country right now. Although it is sitting in the garage right now, I keep imagining people keying it... there have...
Looks good Rich, looking forward to seeing it once it has been PCd. Mine is looking poor at the moment as it is stuck in the garage still, and I have also incurred some chips on the lower fender... :(
But, considering it has covered 32k now, looks a minter. And yes, I know I still haven't put...
My Dad spoke to his mate who is a Renault Parts Manager on my behalf, and they said theoretically they could, but could mean loss of performance, and if the rear box has gone chances are the mid box will be on its way out soon too.
Managed to get a price quote for £270 inc. VAT through my Dad...
It broke just behind the back box, think the mounting came loose and pulled it down, and as it scrapped on the floor whilst I was driving it became damaged. The back box needs to be replaced, I just can't see why they can't replace like for like?
Yeh... is stupid amount for a piece of cast metal! I wouldn't mind if it was an old exhaust but it was only just 3 years old, and annoyingly out of warranty.
