The EGP will add a lot more to the protection than most/ all waxes. Wax is mainly for improving looks, although they do marginally improve protection. If you have EGPd then it is not necessary to wax if all you want is protection.
The foam pad shown and mf pads have a slightly more abrasive surface than the soft yellow pads, and also allow you to carry more product on them.
I use the pad as shown in the image to use on areas where there is a specific scratch or mark I want to get rid of, as opposed to mf pads which I...
There are loads of threads on this already, but a few hints:
1. Ensure the car is thoroughly cleaned (shampoo/ clay as necessary). The better you prepare the paint before PCing the better the results, from my experience.
2. Mask off plastics/ gaps between panels with 3M tape. Not strictly...
According to Super Guard and Diamond Brite and all other systems - all you should have to do is shampoo using their shampoo and conserver and top up every 6 months/ year.
If you are having to SRP, EGP and wax then surely that defeats the object?!
AG EGP is good, but just find it takes too long to layer up if you don't have a garage, risk of it raining etc. For me the Jeffs is ideal - great durability, high gloss and quick to get a few layers on, I only leave it to cure for bout 10 minutes or so on each panel.
Ok so don't think Pete's is worth trying then by all accounts, but think I might be buying some WMF of old Rizy boy...
Might try the Jetseal but got too many sealants at the moment to warrant yet another one!
Look good Rich, suit that colour well. Think if I get it done I would do mine black, think the contrast against the silver wheels on the 172 and black pain on the body might look good.
Not a great shot of the caliper but you get the idea...
Cool be interested to see them if you find them. Is it a big hassle taking all your wheels and stuff off though when you do them? Just seems like a big job - but then again setting up a Phohobucket account did hehe...
Yeh that's fair play. The 109 sounds quite good apart from that it sounds like it was developed as an aero product, so will probably be good at beading and protection but looks might not be that great. Having said that it's £20 so quite expensive for a sealant... that was why I was hoping it...
Has anyone tried either of these products or heard any reviews on them? Sound quite interesting, but then again most products do! Would just like to hear from anyone that has had experience with them before spending the cash, can't really justify them even if they are good let alone if they...
Does anyone consider painting callipers chavy at all? As I am tempted but not sure painting standard callipers has the same impact as getting a real pair of Brembos... what do you all think?
I've used the Turtle Platinum Series gel and it does work surprisingly well, really dark colour, not too glossy and fairly durable. Not the best though!
Depends how often you wash and with what but I reckon 6 months very god protection with a few layers of each, but probably longer, it does seem to last for a long time.
It's the difference in what motion the pads are spun in. Rotary is more powerful but on the downside can be more dangerous as it focuses on one area.
Having seen a black Saab that was rotary polished and mopped at the weekend, I can vouch for the damage that can be done if not done well. It...
Yeh don't understand how people can pay so much for a nice car which they obviously care about, then treat like rubbish. We were saying a few weeks back, people think its excessive cleaning your car once a week, when most people clean their kitchen/ bath room/ lounge at least this often.
I...
Yeh sorry I forgot you were talking about birds... as Rich says very little (if anything) can protect against the damage. Best thing to do is get it off ASAP - especially in the sun. I always carry a cloth and some QD just in case.
Seagulls seem to produce the worst though - it can dry hard...
In short - YES. I normally use this in the winter but nothing stopping you doing it over the summer. Try getting a couple of coats of EGP under the Collinites. Then after a week or so give it another coat of Collinites. The same process can be used on your wheels for good protection - you can...
Depending on the condition, I would ask for about £6,800 then go down to £6,500. Depends where you sell though obviously, if its been taken care of then a someone who knows about their cars won't mind paying a bit more.
Yes it's a paint sealant, as polish restores/cleans the paint, and waxes are mainly just for looks (P21s for example).
It helps create a thin barrier between the paint surface and the environment so in theory protects the paint itself (from UV rays, road salts etc) and makes it easier to wash...
How mutch Scratch X were you using mate? Not sure what size bottle of EGP you were using but even the smallest should last about 8 whole cars... you shouldn't need to use that much - but good your pleased with the results anyway.
For the Scratch X, just make sure you work it down until it...
Yeh I'm not too bothered about the foam to be honest mate, the car never really gets dirty enough for that to matter. I don't think the CG Extreme foams all that great as it is, that's why I mix some others in with it some times depending on the job at hand.
