Are these half cages any good or just for show guys?

Looks home made! I wouldn't put that in any car, tubes are bent badly and have buckled, also the tube ends are flattened....absolutely no use at all.

    Snow Damage! HELP! :'(

I have a silver phase 1 front bumper going spare if it helps.....

Weight of 6 point roll cage

CDS means cold drawn seamless. T45 is seamless too, all FIA/MSA approved rollcages should be one or the other.

Anyone had issues with uprated brake fluid? For the track day and fast road users.

Re: Anyone had issues with uprated brake fluid? For the track day and fast road users Agree with Tony, change dot 4 often and you will have no worries, also if you need to top up the reservoir at a track day its more readily available in a petrol garage than any "race" fluid.

    Can anyone identify this LSD?

Looks like a ZF. straight cut gear set, more than likely a hewland gear kit? I think they used these on the 'client cars' for the Homologated Clio mk1 rally cars. Could be wrong, my memory is fading due to old age.....:S

We are in Kent, so quite a distance..... See how you get on.

CAMBER setup what's the best camber???

If the car is for fast road/track use, I normally set the front camber at -2 deg, front toe-out of around 2-3mm on a 15" wheel. This would be my base setting, and reference point for further adjustments. It is also comes down to 'feel' as well and how you like the car to handle for you. Being a...

The bugger took 15 attempts to start just now!

The oblong copper wound block is the transponder. I think it is possible to gain the code from the key and have the copper oblong deleted and have a carbon chip burnt to replace it. The decoder rings are all the same for the clio 2 so a scrapper will provide the same part as cliospares and...

The bugger took 15 attempts to start just now!

Battery is for 'plip' unlocking not connected to immobiliser, unless its a really early clio with time limited unlock and start up, the transponder is for immobiliser. When you took the key apart did you notice an oblong copper wound block on the PCB, or a small coffin shaped carbon chip, in...

CAMBER setup what's the best camber???

Fast road setup and occsional trackday? Or just standard on the road car?

Had my front camber adjusted....I think??

Get it on level ground and use a plumb line.

    Miss my valver

Also, check the transfer pump, this leaks too.

    Miss my valver

Is it leaking from the small auxiliary tank or the main fuel tank?
  15. Matt@codered

    Could this cause any damage?

Unless its de-gassed itself....but yes good comment. It is currently illegal to vent A/C gas to atmosphere....that also goes for garages or individuals who know the A/C system has a leak, but re gas a system to find that leak!

Is there a need to change the pads when changing the discs

Yep, thats fair. But ensure the pads are not tapering in any way...... personally I'd put them aside for an emergency post track-day blast.......(after realising you only have 1mm left on the pads you are expected to get home on).;)
  17. Matt@codered

    Could this cause any damage?

Won't damage your car/engine no. The A/C pump is on a clutch, only engages/drives the pump when the clutch is energized by an electrical feed. Just make sure the single pin electrical connection is taken off and isolated. Also, the pump will effectively become scrap when the A/C pipes are...

    why would a gearbox whine?

Gearbox rebuilding is not a real hardship if you know what you are doing. JC5 is a bit strange when compared to a VW or Ford gearbox for example. If you aren't confident in rebuilding one, then leave it to the experts.......I certainly wouldn't want a plumber rewiring my house if you know what I...

    turbo project

What sort of mods needed to run a turbo on a non turbo car? Lower the compression ratio somehow is a good start.....matching a suitable sized turbo to the engine....specially re-designed exhaust manifold and down pipe.....turbo oil feed and return...extra coolant pipes if the turbo unit is...

    why would a gearbox whine?

Normally the bearings whine, either differential or shafts.

Is there a need to change the pads when changing the discs

Yes, normally...When you say lots of life left in them, how much we talking 15% worn 60% worn? I personally wouldn't put old pads on new discs, as the old pads have been bedded into the old discs, you wouldn't get the same braking effort as before. Never scrimp on brakes or steering......it can...
