R5 is the right car for the right job, mine ran for years without a problem, in the end I wore it out.
Unreliability can be with many cars, poorly set up fuelling on a R5 is the death of it.
The R5's we run in the project 8 saloon championship are very good on track (around the 220bhp mark and...
We are using Silverstone FTZ RR, medium fronts and soft rears as an alternative to R888's on out MG ZR 190 race car, I'll report back once we have given them a proper pasting.
Yep, 'old 1-7-blu' is going to hit the roads soon, and is looking very comfy in the code red workshop.
Have fun at the 'ring' Ricardo, 'whitey' certainly goes well enough.....;)
It was a blinkin' pleasure mate, apart from that bloody rear loom confliction with the rest of the car.
Need me to test it round brands now....? :-)

Make sure the indicator bulb and brake lamp bulb aren't interfering (transferring) across each other, i.e. with the indicator on and brakes pressed, the brake dims with each flash of the indicator, we had a problem like this with a car that had cruise.
It transfers enough to bring the brake...
How do you mean MJ adds cost and complexity? Compared to...? Jenveys.....?
An already built MJ unit is probably still under £100, the scrap yards can provide all the extra parts (EDIS module, ign pack, leads and VR type tdc sensor) apart from a custom 36-1 wheel, probably in the region of £20...
I have a MegaJolt system ready to go on my Blue car as the current setup is still using the original inj comp, this is an Ignition only unit.
As for the weber comment, I have a Sunbeam Alpine SV with the Holbay engine, the carbs are a nightmare to keep in tune, bacically down to lack of use...
Its all about the state of tune of the car, my car is fine with bike carbs and very spikey cams.....for example I can be in 5th gear at around 30 mph, stab the throttle to the floor, and it will not spit back or hesitate, and will accelerate smoothy to peak rpm.
My only problem is proper...
Bike carb choke size and throttle body size are not comparable, as the throttle body is just a butterfly inside a tube, an air device if you like.....you rely on an injector to supply the fuel.
The Carb is a different animal, is has a choke/venturi making a depression in an air path to draw the...
My f7r is on bike carbs, works really well.
Bike carbs don't go out of tune like weber carbs, and in their design can flow twice the original use capacity.
I.E. A 1000cc bike carb is ok for a 2000cc car engine.

No, not RS Tuner.
The R-Tuner was an earlier deal, for Clio 1 F7R type engine ecu.
It is a chip that is remappable via the sqaure diag port of the Clio 1.
I bought a car (Clio C57D 1.8 16v) a few years ago with one of these fitted, never been able to use it though as it seems locked out. I have the software disc and interface.
Anyone else used one/still has one in use?
Thanks Matt.
